Hi, if P5 year end result is just above 70%, can consider trying for DSA via sports next year?
Appreciate some thoughts from experienced parents.
Thank you. -

The very “top” schools do take in Sports DSA students scoring in the 70s range - there is no harm trying.

Thank you Mrs Kiasu and doodbug for your kind response.
I wonder how the overall Conduct of the child can affect the outcome ? Any idea on that ? -

I would think the main selection criterion is your child’s achievements in that particular sport. He should be one of the top national players to have a good chance.

Have a look at the list of secondary schools that take in DSA via your child’s particular sport. If there are several, then pick the one(s) that are not more than 10 points above your child’s predicted T score. I would think that’s the most sensible way to narrow down your applications.
Conduct: of course good conduct is preferable. If for some reason he has “bad” conduct indicated in his report book, prep him to explain why during the interview/trial. -
The requirements for each sport is different. Most sports (and schools) do not require a child to be in national team. There are applicants who went for trials at IP schools with zero medals and received DSA offers. Some sports are much mire competitive and are at a higher competitive standard than others.

Different school different requirements. Go to your interested school website to find out their individual min requirements.
Eg nan hua high school, need to have conduct at least a “good” and 3 subjects 70% or 75% (forgotten) and above.
Eg river valley high school need to have an “A” in mother tongue.
No need to be in school team. They test ur skills on the spot. If u r strong in that sport, u will pass the sport trial. Then follow by interview to see how u present yourself.
Just make full use and apply it. School will shortlist, so no harm to apply. If u fit the bill, u will get shortlisted for trial/interview. If u pass and obtain a confirm offer, u can then decide if u wan to accept the offer. -

The only IP school I know that conducts sports trials for general sporting talent is NJC. Can u name some others?
