Judging by the way the info is presented on the MOE website (ie exactly the same as last year), I think we can conclude that we will still be seeing no breakdown of how many applicants per each distance category in 2020.

People in phase 2B, 2C, 2CS...be prepared for zero breakdown and no “live” updates at all.

I think the school admin will be the only source of information if they so choose to reveal.

Hi. Wan to enquire abt distance priority?! I’m in the midst of selling my flat. My child is under Phase 2C of p1 next yr. I understand tat I got to use the register address on NRIC of the parents, but wad if aft registering of school & my child got in the preferred sch & den I bought a resale flat which is not within 1km aft the registration period of phase 2C? Moe website shows tat we need to reside for atleast 30mths from 1st July 2020 the address been used for registering ? But wad if I bought my flat aft phase 2C ?

If there’s balloting that phase and you did not reside in the place of residence for 30mths, your child will be transferred to another school with vacancy.

          It’s stated in MOE FAQ.

If you got in using address priority, you risk your child to be transferred out if not staying till 30 months. Plan early.

If u are selling your flat now for urgent reasons, then to fulfill the 30 month requirement, you either rent (or buy) within the same distance category. If u have already committed to buy somewhere that is outside the distance category, either rent <1km to complete the 30 months, or your child will be transferred out of the school (like MOE’s rules state).

Hi i am in Phase 2A2 for HPPS. Can I check what is the chances of my son getting in to HPPS without balloting for this year?

I am so stressed that I am afraid my boy couldnt get into HPPS. The data reflected on MOE website stated 105 vacancies for Phase 2A1 and applicants 81 therefore do u think for Phase 2A2 balloting is required?

I think they would still let those who (registered) fall outside the distance to be balloted to make an alternative choice in phase 2B/2C. Keeping silent would mean a wasted choice as they would not be eligible for their school of choice even if they registered

Nope. I think only a couple of schools bothered to notify the parents in the past years. The vast majority do NOT inform the parents even if they have zero chance for their distance category. I know plenty of people (forummers and relatives/friends) who lost their chance due to this. Plus their own lack of knowledge about the application process.

It’s high chance you need to ballot for >2km in 2A2. Only can hope for the best.
