In this case, not sure how NTU will decide.
In that case, meaning your son ain’t really filling up any LKC spot for this year. Technically speaking it’s a positive news for the fellow folks with kids queuing in the waiting list.BonVoyage\" post_id=\"1984752\" time=\"1594234122\" user_id=\"185844:
Reply to Seya and Desmond Tang, yes..my son is going ORD early next year.
If NTU pass this quota to the next waitlist queuer, imagine if the next N Queuers are all male and they all decide not to disrupt NS, does NTU has to reserve the place for all of them in the following year? -

So those who want to try a 2nd time and for new applicants would be in a very tight spot. Next year would be a challenging and competitive year and I believe the intake would be drastically reduced as this year we see flood of students, locally and also those not pursuing medicine overseas vying for medicine. Do not know how the educational and career path would workout as the covi19 has totally disrupted the norm of life that we have been so used to. -

it has always been like that, not just for medicine but for all other courses as well. just that only med (and some psc) qualifies for ns disruption. the boys are serving the nation. the least the unis can do is to keep whatever places were offered to them. disrupting ns is not everyone's cup of tea. neither can we call them \"hoarders\" if they choose not to disrupt ns, or they are waiting for a place elsewhere. it just works this way for our boys who are serving ns.

This chat is about studying medicine and the limited places available to students for this competitive course. This pandemic situation has put many educational systems into off balance. The word \"hoarders\" here I believed it meant causing a \"traffic jams\" as inflow of students come from multiple source of directions. Thus the medical schools will anticipate more medical students and spillage over to next year. So intake for next year might be very tight and new applicants may face tighter screening and interviews. The emphasis here is not about NSmen centric but the implications caused by the pandemic situation.

So if NS men do not choose to defer, is the spot still taken? Or willl the waitlist shift further?

If NSmen accepted NTU offer and choose not to disrupt then they will be placed under reservation for matriculation next year. So places for next year will be lesser than 150. The left-over vacated slots will then be offered to those on their wait-lists. Queue will move only when NTU receives notification of those NSmen refusal of disruption.

Might hear something tmr, since those offered were told to respond by 12 July. Usually they take 3days to offer again.
