My dd has her LKC orientation with seniors yesterday and today. According to the seniors, last year's cohort has about 42% from RI while HCI has the second largest cohort. I wonder if the RI % intake the same for this 2020 intake. SMU Law also has more than 50% from RI.

Their white coat ceremony will be held on 11 August at the campus. 6th August is the rehearsal.
It is known fact that these two JC's students have been popular in the list of universities from overseas and locally. These students were highly sort after and they consistently ace through Medicine, Law and Dentistry successfully. It has been so for several years but only to be surprised by this year's outcome. My son were shocked too to find that his friends from these schools to be rejected by NUS as they were all rounders in terms of academic and leadership inclination. Well, at least this diversification has given others an opportunity to get to study medicine whereas it was not possible in the past.
Indeed NUS med selection criteria has truly diversified this year... Anyone with 5* to 8* have good chance to be admitted regardless of which school...even 8* also maybe not accepted or waitlisted..

Indeed NUS med selection criteria has truly diversified this year... Anyone with 5* to 8* have good chance to be admitted regardless of which school...even 8* also maybe not accepted or waitlisted..
Government wants to be inclusive now ... Don't u realised all the scholarship holders featured in newspapers are those who have overcame diversities, some from families with challenging backgrounds etc etc.

We used to joke that if your dad is in prison and your mum is a drug abuser and u have 5As, YLL will want u so PM can feature you at NDP rally 🙂 haha...

LKC needs a good BMAT scores... so not surprised that many of those high achievers are from RI, HCI. LKC dean also said most of their students are straight As students. LKC is affiliated to Imperial. So I bet Imperial has a say on the type of students that they want. In fact, I heard some of the interviewers were from Imperial. So typically, Imperial London takes in the very top academic students in London, so probably similar criterias here.

Anyone with 5* can put in an application to NUS but not to LKC. So that kind of explains why LKC has more than 40% from RI and 20% from HCI. Not so much that the school favours RI, HCI students but rather their BMAT selection criterias seek them out. Of course, there are also those with very high BMAT who did not get LKC. They probably didn't perform well at the interviews or other aspects of their criterias do not meet what LKC is looking for.

I suggest write in to make an inquiry at [email protected] Try writing to Local admissions first instead of LKCSoM admissions. You will definitely get a reply from them.

This is LKCSoM Admissions email [email protected] for your info.

In the email you need to quote your DD's name, NRIC Nbr, Date of Birth and her Application Nbr. They will definitely give you a reply within 1 - 3 working days.

Do I ask about the waitlist movement? If I recall correctly, LKCSoM admissions team does not reveal anything about waitlist though.

Sometime it is just too coincidental that someone might just be left out of the notification by the admission team. As the wait has been very near the end and it is good to find out if your DD is still in the queue wait-lists or being left out.

What about NUS YLL? Similar ratio or more % from other schools?

Cambridge especially loves RI kids. The admission interviews are held at RI annually. I do not think there are many HCI kids in Cambridge or Oxford. Nush kids are also sought by Cambridge for maths and science disciplines.
Where did you get the information that \"there are not many HCI kids in Cambridge or Oxford\"?

Based on statistics released by HCI, every year about half of the cohort went on to study in overseas top universities, including Cambridge and Oxford and universities in US such as Stanford, John Hopkins etc.

8As in RI and HCL are not rare, but get 5As in such environment is. and most probably his/her IQ and ability to overcome difficulty and learn is much more than 8As.
