Hi, if given a choice between catholic schools or hokkien clan schools for phase 2b, what would u choose assuming you will move within 1km?

      Chij toa payoh
      Kong hwa
      Ai Tong
      Nan chiau
If you’re going to cough up the money to buy/rent <1km, pick a school that does not need balloting for <1km phase 2B.

In this case, CHIJ Toa Payoh.

Kong Kwa previous years sometimes balloting <1km for 2B. Recent years demand dropped, dunno why.

Ai Tong and Nan Chiau, don’t bother. They would be like your $0.5-2 million investment is just to buy a TOTO ticket.

And CHIJ TPY with affiliation is definitely worth to invest for a good 10 years.

Plus you don’t have to clock up PV hours with CHIJ TP - just attend your regular church on Sunday (which I assume you are going to do anyway).

Kong Hwa issue could be due to (lack of) neighborhood rejuvenation. Apart from Dakota, which is mainly SERS not BTO, there hasn’t been many new and major developments.

I have a different take. Ai Tong Nan Chiau isn’t for me as I am not a purely academic parent.

Between CHIJ TPY and Kong Hwa, question is all girls & In-school faith vs co-ed and faith outside of school. Think the balloting risk is about the same on certain years. And both schools probably score higher on diversity for me vs the Nan Chiau and Ai Tong

KHS is sap, so only chinese.
                  NC is not sap.
Both co ed, so in theory, NC should have more diversity than KH?
                  Does it make sense?

Does it make sense?[/quote]Among the 4, NC should be the most diversified.

Mainly heartlanders in and around Sengkang as majority of students enrolled via Phase 2C. In terms of SES would have the higher diversity compared to ATS or CHIJ TP. Offers Malay and Tamil languages, so not mainly Chinese students like ATS or KHS.

Also, both ATS and NCPS aren’t really that much more academic than KHS (probably slightly above average compared to other primary schools). CHIJ TP students may be able to take it easy as their affiliation COP to the secondary section is fairly generous. Majority of the push don’t come from the school, it’s due to the parents.

                        Hi,
Want to seek your advice and opinion. I am registering for p1 this year for 2021 cohort under 2c. Checked the distance calculator and we are 1.1 km away from temasek pri, which needs balloting. Does this mean that we are considered as being 1-2km away? Wondering if the distance affects anything.

We are also considering either tg katong pri or ngee ann pri. Not sure which one would be a better choice. My child is SC and we are living in the Bayshore area.

Thank you in advance. Did not know how competitive p1 registration is until now! Appreciate your help 🙂

Ngee Ann is a wiser choice.

                        Not just having affliation only

Of the 3 schools u mentioned, (Tanjong Katong, Ngee Ann and Temasek), Ngee Ann is the best, if you can get in

                        In Marine Parade area
                        ,
Ngee Ann is the 2nd most popular highly-sought-after primary school, after Taonan. (popular, because Taonan is GEP + SAP school). But, for parents who do not hunger after nor interested in GEP school, Ngee Ann is their Top choice. Not all parents in Singapore want their kids to study, in GEP school

                        However,
based on your distance from ( home to school), if cannot get into Ngee Ann, then go for the school, while u still can enter, based on the distance that qualify you, on the last day of Phase 2C balloting, obtain the latest figures, after 3.45 pm afternoon (2C, last day) by distance break down for SC.

If fail to enter Ngee Ann via balloting, eg. No chance to even ballot,
either Temasek or TKPS, also good

Use one map application tool, to verify your distance

                        Because

This is the accurate official tool used by MOE, to confirm your actual distance. Not use any other tool, in case end up in un-necessary confusion yourself

Thank you so much for all your replies.
                        I used the onemap.sg.
I am likely to now consider Ngee Ann Pri. I realised that while we can see the school from my home, it is actually more than 2km from my house!
I am such a noob here. For phase 2c, how is the selection process be? Would it be SC<1km first, then the rest? We are SC but now realise that we are more than 2km away.
                        Appreciate all your advice 🙂
