Hi,

I will be signing my rental lease agreement next month, which is within 1km of my prefered school. However, the lease agreement is only for 2 yrs. In such a scenario, in the event, I do get thru the school in Phase 2C, what happens if my lease expires after 2 years? WIll moving within the 1km radius of the school be ok? Cos that is what would most likely happen.

I did ask the landlord to give us the lease for 4 yrs, so that we can fulfil the 30 months from next Jul, but he said its not possible. Wht should I do at this point?

EDIT: Sorry, just read that your registration is next year. So you're good to go, you just need to keep the school informed when you move to another place within 1km.

You can move to another location or property. However, it must still be within 1km

Yes, But its for next year's registration. So I would already be staying at my rental place. The lease ends 30 Aug 2022. So in the event, they dont renew my lease, I would have to move house, but will that mean I am breaking the rules?

EDIT: Sorry, just read that your registration is next year. So you're good to go, you just need to keep the school informed when you move to another place within 1km.

I see!! thank you so much. So stressed cos we kept trying to get the landlord to sign for longer. as long as new add within 1km, should be ok means, we are somewhat safe, I hope.

Answer:
MOE recognises that some families may face exceptional circumstances that prevent them from remaining at the address for the entire duration of the child’s primary school studies. We wish to assure parents who find themselves in such cases that MOE is prepared to allow the child to remain in the registered school, provided they are able to provide compelling grounds to justify the change in residential address, e.g. severe economic hardship or matrimonial disputes that necessitates the move.

MOE will evaluate and assess the circumstances for each case, before making a decision as to whether to transfer the child out of the school.

Parents who move to a residence that is within the same home-school distance category as the declared address used for registration, can continue to fulfil the 30 months stay condition based on the new address.\"

It says the online form takes the address from MyInfo (singpass), so that means even if you updated your address after the 31st of May 2020 (but before the 30th of June 2020), the address in the online form (not the P1-S system) will be the latest one correct?

It says the online form takes the address from MyInfo (singpass), so that means even if you updated your address after the 31st of May 2020 (but before the 30th of June 2020), the address in the online form (not the P1-S system) will be the latest one correct?

It seems that the cut off date 31 May 2020 is the date that they updated MyInfo.

So your new address may not be shown in the online form. Anyway, no big issue as one forummer has shared that you can edit/override the info in the online form.
