St Margaret's Primary

You may check on the daily applicants on MOE website after 8pm. This number does not have distance breakdown.
It depends on the person who handle the exercise . Some are willing to give so parents will know where they stand. -
Till date for 2020 registration: 57 applicants for 97 vacancies. Thus, distance breakdown is irrelevant at this point. I highly doubt that the school will be filled by Phase 2C this year.

If your objective is to get your daughter into a girls school with an affiliated secondary school, then SMPS fits the bill very well. Apply in 2C sure in. If you wait till 2CS, not sure if >2km got a chance.
-
SMPS is the single most overlooked affiliated school with cut off 242 for secondary, and chances for SC>2km and sometimes even all PR get in!

IMHO Affiliation is the single most overrated attribute that people focus on.

Yes, it’s beneficial and a BFD for schools like CHS or SNGS where you get to qualify for a top secondary with slightly lower score. However, for many others, it’s meaningless. To put it differently, if you have scored 245, would you have applied for a school with COP 200 and see it as a great move? -

There was a ballot for SC in dragon year even though the move to temporary site is announced. I am really curious to see how things turn out this year since the number of births (in particular, baby girls) are similar -

Agreed with Floppy. To add on to that, SMPS and SMSS are located so far apart. chances is if u are close to one, u are far from the other. -

I beg to differ. Affiliation is no BFD for premium schools like CHS or SNGS, where an average kid would struggle to meet the high affiliated COP.

But affiliation is a darn BFD at other schools, where it is a safety net for average kids. Eg a girl who scores between 200-228, cannot get into any all-girls secondary school without affiliation. (CHIJ Katong Convent's COP for non-affiliates is 229.)
But a SMPS girl scoring in that same range, can still go to St Marg's secondary (even if it is far from home). -

I guess, the big difference is prob if you live really near SMSS. Otherwise, all 3 schools are very similar. -
The big difference is there are no randy rowdy boys to deal with in SMSS.
