Ming, in the main papers they will indicate the class and level's highest and average scores for each subject. I guess ur girl no SA this term hence u don't see it yet.

Yes, the main paper does indicates class's highest & average score, but not the level score though.....

Does P2 papers still indicate level score details?

      Tks πŸ™‚

Last year the P1 main papers indicated both class and levels' scores, not so sure why they changed it this year. And yes, the P2 ones still indicate both class and level scores. I thot u said earlier there was no SA1 for P1 this year?

        There was no SA1.

In term 2, there were 2 topical tests each for EL, MT and Maths, and a Performance Task for each subject too. These various modes of asseeement will in totality constitute 30% of the year-end score.

Term 3 will see the same set of holistic assessment, i.e. 2 tests and 1 performance task for each subject, followed by Term 4 SA2.

Class highest and average score was indicated on Term 2 test papers, no level score though.

Hi I'm a newbie here considering sending my gal to RGPS pls bear with my questions.

          1. I read that RGPS is not affiliated to Raffles Girls Secondary can anyone pls confirm?
          2. Is that why RGPS is not as popular as other top schools like Nanyang Primary?
          3. Can anyone explain how does affiliation works? What kind of priority students from affiliated primary sch enjoy when enrolling for secondary school?
          4. Parents pls share your experience about RGPS in terms of teaching style, culture, students characteristics etc.

          Thanks.

Hi welcome ! To answer ur questions :

          1. Yes, RGPS is NOT affliated to RGSS.

          2. I would say it is not as popular for this reason as compared to MGS and SCGS. NYPS is co-ed hence u cant compare their popularity based on afflilation only.

          3. Students from affliated pri schools get to enrol in the affliated secondary schools with a lower cut-off point. Eg if non-affliated students need 260 points to go into a particular school after PSLE, then affliated students may need 250 or so. This differs among individual schools. In some cases the difference they enjoy is quite little only, I heard, like the case of NYPS to NYGH.

          4. This is a subjective question haha... I cant really answer as I am not a very 'hands-on' type of parent πŸ˜„

          Hi,

You can check out this link http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/affiliated-schools-listing
it has a list of the affliated schools from Primary to JC. Good if you wish to plan the affliation route starting from Primary to JC education.

          cheers

            Hi,

I’m curious, after you get your kids into RGPS, do you feel the need to send them to tuition to keep up with the pace in the school? Thanks

Thanks for your answers Luanee. Where can I find more information about question no.3? i.e. which schools offer lower cut-off point for affiliated students and how much is the difference?

It depends on individual child I think... my dd is now attending enrichment classes for Math and Chinese and since she enjoys them, I let her continue even though her results are okie. Not really to keep pace with the school, more like something to keep her occupied during the weekends hee..

for SCGS pri to SCGS sec : need to clear t-score 200. heard that it will be increased by xx points year on year henceforth :- rising cut off point for own students

for NYPS (girls only) to NYGH : cut off point is 250 inclusive of HCL. No discount for boys going to HCI

actually the MOE website does provide info on the entry point t-score of affiliated students if they are posted to the affiliated sec schools .... got to look them up one by one

You can also check the cut-off point from the MOE website.

                        http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/SIS_index.asp

But those schools with affiliation will be even harder to get in than RGPS unless you can secure a place before Phase 2B.
