Dont know how to reply specifically to a message.

@Davischew thanks. We are still thinking how to break the news to our kid. He has a few classmates that got into the school we tried.

@nitrodrops; yes i did via online form.

Sorry to hear that. I totally understand how you must be feeling. We are in the same position. Also at Novena and did not get in. Our daughter has been asking which school is she is going in as most of her classmates already know. Hopefully we get in the school of our choice for 2CS.

All the best and hope luck is on our side this time.

      Good luck.

We answered, \"what if you don't get into the school of choice?\"... ha

            hi fellow parent,

i hope you do not mind me saying this, being a parent, you are the first source of information a child receives from.
by indebting in your child that these brand name schools are the only schools of choice, your child himself will have the impression that other schools, in this case, neighbourhood schools are not good or beneath aforementioned schools.

I’m actually surprised that he knows the names of these schools in fact.
I have a p1 2021 kid myself and he is clueless about schools.
being a catholic and within 1-2km distance to sjij, i chose not to place my boy in the popular school where he could have easily got into in PHASE 2B.

he does not even know sjij and instead i place him in a neighbourhood school just behind my block which has a cca my boy is interested in.
he got the spot in phase 2c. i was more nervous that this school would have balloting at phase 2c than missing a seat at phase 2b in sjij.

as of today, i have not let my son knows he is going to that school. he tells me everyday mummy i want to play (cca) in (that) school. i always answer ok, see how.

he has no clue where his frens are going nor I. we live in an area where there are more than 6 popular schools.

it is crucial for parents to understand the basic needs of their children and not follow the trend most of us succumbed to. how we show our child’s achievements and disappointment reflects on our own maturity.

and of course there are those who already have secured a spot in a branded school NOT of their choice but will wait list to an even better branded school of their dreams… it never ends.

well you can do that, put his name on a waitlist or you can see him flourish wherever he is placed.

I too totally left out anything to do with primary schools for my kid. He doesn't even know which school he is going to. Tuesday was the first time I told him he is going to acsj (upon which he jockingly asked me acs-nick Jr? - after the TV channel). He and his school friends don't discuss anything about primary school. They are more sad that their time in k2 is coming to an end and that they will miss their teachers

I agree on your healthy outlook too. Well done in staying neutral on how you present the schools to your child.

DH and I were super kiasu & absolutely nervous over the balloting for our son. Yet we remained tight-lipped and neutral to him about what school we were applying for, what school he eventually got into, where his friends were going to. The kids (on their own) have zero clue about which are the branded/popular schools and seriously they couldn’t care less.

The K2 best friends were sad to be split up into different schools upon graduation. But we didn’t dwell on why. We just said this is the school allocated to you, let’s just trust you will be happy there & we will support you & cheer for you all the way.

Even nowadays when I overhear most kids ask each other which school they are from, it’s just a qn of curiosity. They don’t have any preconceived notion of which school is better or more popular. Unless the adults themselves have been psycho-ing some class segregation into them.

MOE website updated. Looks like BTPS will be undergoing balloting.

OMG, I got a shock when I saw the number of applicants at BTPS. I thought we would be safe within 1km. Now I am panicking. Does it mean it will most likely ballot for all? What’s happening?
