My DS is from a neighbourhood school, and when I compare his prelims papers to that of the top school prelim papers recently, I found that all his papers were much easier. Does anyone know if it's still accurate to take 0.7 to 0.75 to calculate his T score, or will easy papers be \"off the charts\". Also wanted to know how do the parents arrive at this 0.7 to 0.75 range.

My son too from neighbourhood school and 2 out of 5 prelim papers were a lot easier comparing with not only top schools prelim but also previous years psle papers. I gave up guesstimating, told him just best effort for his preparation and aim for freedom of choice, whatever outcome we shall face it together.

Thanks yorkie, that's sound advice. Same, compared to their own school's past years papers, it was also much easier, causing parents like us to speculate if PSLE might be easier this year or that the school just wants to encourage the kids.

Hi, can anyone recommend any good English Listening Comprehension book(s) to buy to practise for this coming PSLE English Listening Comprehension? If they are recently published will be better; if otherwise, good ones are also ok. Greatly appreciate any kind advice/recommendation! Thanks a lot.

At this point, we don't seem to have a lot of choices from Popular. We've always had the English Oral Booster and Listening Comprehension (EPH) and recently we found one by Casco (yellow book) for Oral and Listening in Popular, but so far my DS hasn't finished all the practices yet.

This is just an estimate. The range of 0.7 to 0.75 is to account for the error of margin taking into consideration the different schools/ level of difficulty, etc. If you want to be conservative, then just use 0.7 as your lower estimate.

The 0.7 to 0.75 was basically from all the feedback over the years and most scores fall within that range. Having said that, there are obviously corner cases in which students did exceptionally well vs their prelim scores and vice versa.

So just take this as an approximate gauge of roughly where the score will fall between. It doesn't really affect or impact the final score and the child should be pushing hard at this last lap regardless of what this predictor says.

Sorry to hear that! What's the breakdown of her exam marks for the MCQ and OEQ Sections?

Generally speaking, Science MCQs will be the first place to target to make improvements. But it really depends, it could also be her OEQ pulling her down. You might like to take a look at https://studysciencesmart.com/get-free-pdf-5-sure-fire-ways-to-stop-losing-marks/ if her OEQ is weak.

Same, my DS was also taught that way in school. Eg, \"..... the incident took place on 15 October 2020 at 9 a.m in the morning.\"
