it does not have to depend on luck, that is why u are doing research now....lol

for indo maids, very few biodata during the period leading up to hari raya puasa...so, look up the calender - when do you need, how long they take to process the paper work, etc

for Raymond Maids which i recommend, call them and look for Raymond - he is either in Bukit Timah or Katong or Indonesia. They have a training centre in Indonesia

go and visit their shop and browse the biodata and video recordings of the candidates....

and ask yourself - what is the primary duty of the maid : child care (young / schooling) ? household chores (cooking, washing, ironing, house cleaning) ? care for the elderly ?

don't get a pretty young thing who is still in late teen to look after young infants - likely to have no experience and will give u more frustration......and maid with young infant / young kids at home tend to be homesick the most.....maid with schooling kids probably can help in child care for your school kids too....older maid probably can care for the elderly sick better than a sweet young thing ....

above all, pray for discernment when doing selection

transfer maids with experience in Singapore is likely to be rotten apple if they have not been able to complete even a single contract without a valid reason (eg employer got posted overseas)

Is it good? Heard it expensive but not really that good.

Hi, why I said Nations was because I got a very good maid from there. They are a big agency hence not likely to run away and you can go to them to resolve problems. Plus they have training classes you can send new maids to if necessary.

What criteria you use to choose a maid is also very important. For us we need this maid to look after new-born infant hence our criteria as follows:

          1. Experienced and worked in Singapore before for 5 years looking after 3 boys with the same family! (That means stable, good, gotten used to Singapore food and environment already!)
          2. Have one child at home about 2 years and need to work and send money back. (Meaning she will not be looking for man to marry, got distracted but will not create trouble since she need to earn money for her kid).
          3. Pleasant looking but not so nice-looking until I need to be worried!

Also there is an \"All about maids\" thread here. You can check it out because one forumner already blogged and research about all the maid agencies. Please check it out as this should be what you are looking for!
          :celebrate:

            Dear all,

Please check out this page. An employer has provided proof about how a maid agency told lies about the maid's employment history :

            http://singaporemaidcomments.blogspot.com/2010/05/marry-jane-sa-onoy-lintuco-filipino.html

I advise all employers to check the employment history of a maid at MOM website before you pay the agency fees.

Also remember to check my blog before you decide on any agency. I have included many maid agencies and honest customer reviews here :

I feel quite sad to read about a mommy who has just delivered her baby being terribly stressed by her bad maid. The mommy is starting to snap.

I hope that experienced mommies here can offer some kind words to her in my blog.

I found someting in my maid’s cupboard yesterday-oral contraceptives… and was quite shocked. She had been with me for 7 years now and we have trusted her very much all these years until the last 1 year when she started to use HP frequently and now this… for so many years, I have never looked at her things, however, becos’ of her recent cases of using HP too often, I started to lose my trust and chk her things now and then. I am not quite sure what to do as I always thought she is not that type. She knows I checked her things yesterday so she hide it away today. My DH quite cool and said its ner own business but I still feel very uncomfortable.

Should I install a CCTV just to make sure she don’t bring back anyone although I think she does not dare to do so. If install those hidden type, where should I put and which company should I call?

                Thks very much

I have used maids from Raymond maids and Nations. For Raymond maids, the first two maids that i employed were good. The last ones gave us attitude which I have decided that I should bring the business elsewhere.

For Nations, the one and only maid that I took from them, left my home late at night. Climbed over my neighbour’s house and back into my house. Was confronted by my neighbour. Also stole my bank account book etc. When I called Nations for advice, after sales service was bad. Manager did not bother to return call till one week later. By then, I sent the maid off to Indonesia since she has discharged her loan.

My current maid agency is a small setup at Hougang Green. Loyal Maid. Took a maid from Flores. So far so good. She is working for me for six months now. Looks like an African with tight curly hair.

Thank you for the helpful posts. This is one reason why I still have doubts if I should employ a maid for my 2 year old DS, she might get impatient with him (kids this age are having tantrums often and are quite very active). Being a work at home mom gives me a great opportunity to be able to take care of my child personally without worrying to much if he’s hurt.

I think i had decided on 3m’s manpower and services (Bt Timah #04-07), Lee Garden Employment Agency (Bt Timah #02-17) and Amazing Employment (Far east Shopping Centre #03-40). Anyone used them before? And Good and bad abt them or heard anything abt them?

                        hi, good that you asked.

used the second agency . Met the most unethical people in my life.
Have shared my painful experience before. Too :x to repeat.
