If normal times, there would be more activities where you can volunteer your time. Better check with CM or Chairman how and roughly when you can become EM.

      Thanks for the quick response.
I dont quite dare to check with the Chairman on when to become EM as there was a lady whom i spoke to told me that they actually dislike parents who join grassroot for P1 purpose.
May i know what is CM?

if they dislike such parents, then they should dislike 50% of the people who join[/quote]ya man

Please lah. Everyone who joins these organizations come with a motive. Some people want their PBM, BBM or BBM (L); some people want invitation to the Istana or NDP; others want their Phase 2B privilege. Neither is better or worst than another. She thinks people just want a Pat on the back and be complimented on a job well done meh?

May be its just your particular zone chairman that has this attitude. Agree with Floppy, most of the members who join come with motive (either one or the other). I learnt from this forum and i chose to be frank to them and very lucky that my zone, chairman/staff are very understanding and helpful. They even gave me advice on how to be converted to member faster (in my case). They helped me converted the observer status to member status even during Covid time. Feel very thankful to them.

There is nothing wrong when parents volunteer with a motive.

In the first place, it is one of the criteria required by the authority to be an active community leaders. Imagine those parents whose schools have been demolished or no longer around, what advantages do they have over others from the Phase 2A?

As parents, we always want to give the best to our children. The authority has no right to be unhappy when parents serve with a motive. After all, they have served and invested their time in the community in exchange for a priority placing for their child school registration. This is win-win situation.

I myself have a SG50 child to be registered in 2022. To my amazement, I realized I am more than late to even serve as parent volunteer and to be a active community member. Who is to be blame for making parents to be kiasu? I cannot even imagine those parents that register or planned more than 1-1/2 years or more to serve or become volunteer as a community leader.

To sum it all, although I have already lose out in Phase 2B registration, am I going to just give up and do nothing? Answer is a no. The way one serve and contribute to the community is more important than how long he had served. I am sure when you one serve with a heart, it will be felt by your community leaders. And when the time come if you need help, they can help endorsed your contribution.

I sincerely believe the rule is a guide. The rest is still up to the parents to prove their sincerity when serving the community.

As much as I applaud your kind heart, the 2 years EM rule is more than a rule.

It’s a hard cut off, applied at the PA level.
If I am not mistaken, the p1 registration module will not even appear in your Portal, if you do not have that 2 years running EM status.

Continue to help improve your surrounding. Your neighbor will love your deep deep.

i didnt talk to the chairman directly but chairman acknowledged my situation. We emphasized the due date to the coordinator of our zone. They know our objectives and their procedures as well and most importantly, they are willing to help accellerate the process during covid. We managed to get converted in April this year.

As what skii said, the rule is 2 years EM by May of registration year to qualify for 2B endorsement. Anything less do not qualify, your CD,CM,GRA can't do anything to bypass the requirement.

I firmly believe that the grassroots should serve with their hearts first, rather than looking at the benefits. Remember that the ones you are serving are your fellow neighbours, there will always be people gossiping about this or that person join for this or that benefit.

I always advise new members to serve with sincerity and commitment even through your contributions are not measured by monetary terms, but no doubt will forever be remembered by those who had benefited thru your actions.

Hi posting for the first time. Sorry for my noob questions. Can’t seem to find out more about joining as CCC or CCMC which seems very exclusive. Does anyone have any experience to share? If my DD will be in P1 in 2024 is it too late for the RC/NC route?
