      Hi all
Glad that this forum allows parents to voice about our concerns. I will definitely encourage my girl to consult the teachers for questions that she doesn’t understand and not afraid to speak up. Even in the report book, teacher commented that she is too quiet. I don’t even know she is ok or not ok
Although the humanities and LA teaching methods do have the issues as highlighted by a few parents here, from what I saw this year, most girls improved their results (MSG) from Sec 1 -> Sec 2. Anyway, the MSG 4.0 requirement applies for Sec 2 & 3 only. I believe Sec 1 is just need to pass with MSG 6?

Anyway most of them do continue with IP and are able to clear it at the end of 4 yrs, so the system does work. Hopefully, they all become more independent and work their way through it.

Is she normally quiet or is she stressed in the school - ok with her class & CCA? My daughter did say she is closer to her class after 2 yrs together and they were all sad last Fri when they were splitting up for Sec 3.

            Meet-the-parents session?
Since school holidays have begun, there won't be any more of such sessions.
Parents can probably still email the school to request to talk to the teacher if there are some lingering concerns.

Hi Zappy, in a normal school year, does the school arrange parents to have 1-1 face to face meeting with the class Teachers? Think this year there was only one session beginning of the year to address the whole cohort parents. The PTM originally planned for this month is also a group one.

We didn't have any 1-1 with the teacher last year either. I am not sure if this is a common practice here.

However, for this year's student-parent conference, there was an option if you would like the teacher to join in. Additionally, there is a post-event survey or feedback form, which we used to request for a call with the form teacher just so that we can consult someone about the Sec3 subject combination choices and she did give us a call back a couple of weeks later.

Thanks Zappy! Gosh I realise I don’t even know who the form teacher is… on LA I ask my girl if teacher teaches any techniques on lit response etc, she says mostly discussion in class. Seems like to sink or float, a lot got to depend on ourselves or rather themselves. Sometimes I have the impression that some of the teachers are more like facilitators.

Except for this covid year, the sch will arrange a PTM meeting where you could meet the FT or co-FT to discuss about your daughter's progress. The girls are supposed to prepare their portfolio so that they could display to their parents their learning journey. If need arises, parents could then arrange to meet the subject teacher separately. This covid year, the PTM becomes optional so I skipped that for my sec 2s and I arranged to hv a phone conversation with my sec 4 FT (lasted an hour, very fruitful i feel).

Not surprised. I think the girls are encouraged to explore and define rather than being spoon-fed.
