      Hello everyone.

I have been a silent reader for quite some time already and as this P1 Registration is stressing me up big time, I decided to post my situation and request for some expert opinions.

My child will register for P1 in 2021. I am eligible for Phase 2B at Nan Chiau Primary, however the biggest problem is I am living 1-2 km away. I read the past year statistics and it seems like the chances is almost zero which is very sad.
Looks like I will have to think hard for Phase 2C. The schools within 1km of where I am staying are
      1. Mee Toh Primary
      2. Horizon Primary
      3. Punggol View Primary
      4. Punggol Green Primary
      5. Valour Primary

Can I seek for expert advise on choosing which school for Phase 2C?
Of cos I hope that my child can get into Mee Toh or Horizon. But I am not sure what is the risk assessment like.
It feel like this P1 registration is a game of luck...

Also, any advise on my situation? or what strategy will you take?

      Thank you
I’m assuming your Phase 2B eligibility comes from the clan affiliation. If so, the only chance you have is with Kong Hwa.

I have bad news for you. Of the 5 schools that you have listed, there’s a high chance that all 5 will ballot for SC < 1km in Phase 2C. With the exception of MTS, the other 4 are MK schools which mean their K2 kids are eligible to register in Phase 2A2. Based on this year’s experience, many will indeed do so.

Your best chance lies with Valour. As it’s a new school (doesn’t have the full complement of P1 to P6 yet), likelihood there won’t be many applicants in Phase 1.

Hello everyone. Please give some advice.

My SG50 boy is eligible for 2A2 Holy Innocent’s Pri but we stay within 1km of Ngee Ann Pri and St Stephens’. Tanjong Katong Pri and Tao Nan are within 1-2km. Except for Holy Innocent’s, all other schools will be 2C phase.

Which school should we choose? Should we take the chance of 2C balloting near where we stay or go with 2A2 at Holy Innocent’s?

Have not been able to visit any of the schools due to Covid. Does anyone have any insights on any of the schools mentioned above? Any help is appreciated. Feeling very lost as my husband is a foreigner and we don’t have any friends/relatives whose kids have gone through pri school registration.

Judging by this year P1 experience, i personally will opt for safest path. Phase 2c is a gamble.

Judging by this year P1 experience, i personally will opt for safest path. Phase 2c is very risky. I managed to get my son into the school via phase 2B…if we had applied via phase 2C or 2Cs totally no chance. Within 1km my home, there are six primary schools…3 demand…2 so so n 1 nobody wants to go in…even that two schools previously no balloting history, this year have balloting in phase 2cs…grab whatever opportunity before phase 2C!!

Good news. You don’t have chance of balloting for Phase 2C based on those schools

              Tao Nan - 0% chance for SC > 1km
Ngee Ann and St Stephen - shoo-in for SC < 1km

As for whether you are keen on SHPS or any of the above (except TNS) is entirely up to your preference.

We prefer Ngee Ann Pri or Tanjong Katong Pri as it’s nearer than Holy Innocent’s Pri. We stay <1km but don’t know our chances under 2C? SG50 baby year is just too unpredictable. So many babies…

Both schools 100% safe for SC < 1km.

While there are many SG50 babies, the increased number is unlikely to make a significant difference to both schools.

                      Hi,

As next year will be SG50 babies year. Hope to seek for some advice on the balloting history for rgps and MGS. I believe in the past there are years where the birth rate are higher as well. In such circumstances, which school will you advise to ballot under 2C less than 1km? Much to that we prefer MGS. However, rgps seem to stand a better chance. And lastly, may I know does the still PSLE scoring impact on the ballot choices between both?

RGPS will have better chance at <1km, as most years do not require ballot. MGS mostly ballot <1km.
