May be a moot point for MGS but if caregivers’ address is within 1km it’s treated as between 1-2km. If it’s between 1-2km, then it’s 1-2km. No such thing as 3km.

Hi,
There are two parts: phase and distance.
Phase refers to when you can register. Most people will start at 2C. If you PV, you will move up a phase to 2B. It has nothing to do with distance or where you live.
Distance dictates your priority within each phase. It’s broken down into 3 groups: < 1km, 1 to 2km and > 2km. Using a caregiver address, you will not get better than 1 to 2km.
For details, please refer to MOE website. In fact, one should start over there first. There’s detailed explanation, YouTube videos etc to help you understand.
ap Moe website, distance from my caregiver address to the prefered school is 1km, which phase will we in?
thanks in advanced. -
HI parents,
Does anyone know about Pei Hwa PV application for 2016 kids? will be +1km if using caregiver’s address for P1 registration…
thanks -

Hi,
OK, I try to be direct & diplomatic. :nailbite:
Use address grandparents’ only when you & yr child will be staying in that address which u hope to use to be given priority for P1 registration. Can’t use or be found out if u’re staying >2km but using address just to get in. It does matter if it’s grandparents, it matters if u’re physically staying for at least 30 mths.
It’ll be good if u’re going to stay there for yr child’s primary sch duration but what happens if u register the address but can’t get in? Will u change address for ano prime sch?
just review MOe site https://beta.moe.gov.sg/primary/p1-registration/home-address/, doesn't indicate must stay the address ...
Note: If the caregiver’s address is successfully used for priority admission, you will have to continue with the same childcare arrangement at the same address for at least 30 months from the start of P1 registration on 1 July 2020. -

Within Phase 2C, your distance priority is 1-2km using caregiver’s address. Based on the Bt Timah belt, the only school that you will have a chance between 1-2km is BTPS. The rest of the schools typically ballot < 1km for Phase 2C. -

Using caregiver’s address, if it’s:
- Within 1km, you will be treated as if it’s 1-2km
- between 1km to 2km, you will remain as 1-2km
- beyond 2km, you are deemed beyond 2km
There’s no such thing as +1km -

may i clarify for the phase 2c ballot, will those people with address <1km ballot first? so as I use caregiver address 1-2km, won't get a chance to ballot for phase 2c. am i right?
thanks again -

thanks again[/quote]That is correct. In any phase, SC < 1km will be given the seats first. If there are remaining places, SC between 1 to 2km will have a go.
If there’s a ballot for SC < 1km, that means there aren’t enough seats to go around. Those > 1km will have no chance.
Your only hope lies in Phase 2B, ie PV as you may have already know. Unfortunately, it’s not a given since your distance is between 1 to 2km for the schools that you have been asking. Frankly, you may want to consider and look at other schools. -
