You are most welcome Zeal mummy! I’m sure your girl will find nice and caring friends! Seniors provide strong support too, especially in the first year. I think there are about 5 PSL (peer support leaders) and 1 prefect from Sec 3/4 attached to each Sec 1 class to help them navigate through the first year, providing encouragement, tips, talks on mental health, etc., and any form of help needed.

That sounds awesome! Thank you for the information mommyNg!

Hi. I am new here. I have a couple of qns.
        1. What time does CCA end ?
        2. What is the schedule like for third language?
        3. Does every girl in RGS take 3rd language?
        4. What is the reporting time to school? Any staggered timing due to covid?
        5. What is the earliest dismissal time?
        Thanks a lot. 🙂

        1. It depends on which CCA, some end early like 4.30-5pm, and end late 5.30-6pm.
        2. Third Lang is usually on Friday afternoons
        3. No
        4. Mon-Wed and Friday start at 7.30am, and Thur at 8.30am. But due to covid, Thur also starts at 7.30am
        5. Earliest dismissal time is 1.20pm, unless they have study block as their last block and no other activities after that in which case they can leave at the start of the study block .

        Thank you.

May I know which are the 3 most competitive Performing Arts cca to get in, pls? What are the pre requisites for each?

          Thank you

Not sure as my girl not in performing arts, maybe International Dance? No specific pre-requisite, but there will be CCA audition/trials for those who are interested to join the CCA.

          Thank you!

            Dear Parents,

To understand how the 2020 PSLE cohort performed and therefore have a better perspective of how the COPs of different secondary schools are likely to move (ie. increase or decrease), can parents of this year's cohort kindly help to post the highest T-score (please EXCLUDE the HCL bonus points) in their child's respective primary school by clicking on the below link?

            https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/t-scores/

Currently, the table only reflects the t-score information of < 20 schools which makes it difficult for any meaningful analysis. Hence, would like to appeal for more parents to step forward and share the highest t-score data in their child's primary school by clicking on the above link.

            Many thanks in advance!

            :thankyou:

              just share recent experience

My DD hurt her foot in the sport last month. but on the next week, there would be a outing with friends to theme park. Her friends delay the outing two weeks later to wait her full recovery, so all the friend can go together to have fun. My DD is very happy to have so considerate friends in class and she can join in the outing. In these two week, she always says what they will do and what they expect in this outing.
Yes. the life in RGS is not easy. you need handle so much subjects. If you want to join in CCA, competitions, etc. you need devote more time and personal life. I think peer supporting is important as family support and school support. you may meet your life-long friends in the secondary school.

Oh dear, shuangbaoma, I hope your dd foot injury is recovering well... It’s really heart-warming to hear strong support from peers besides family and school, especially in their teenage years when peer influence plays a very important role in shaping their identity and outlook in life

Morning, I have a few questions please.

                  1. How often do they need to wear full uniform blouse plus pinafore in a week? Do they put on the tie once a week for assembly ?

                  2. Is the school blouse the same one for RI (JC) 4 years later?

                  3. Do they have school socks or any white socks is ok?

                  4. Track shoes with 70% white is correct right? But it can be any colour for the 30%?

                  5. Does the school have only one canteen? Are there other little food kiosk or cafe around? How many stalls are there in the canteen? Able to share the variety available pls?

                  6. Can any experienced mums pls share the cca selection process pls?

                  7. Do we buy books from the school bookshop? Do they sell uniform too? Or uniform is only bought from bibi baba ?

                  8. May I know what’s the laptop requirements like? Do they need to carry laptop to school everyday?

                  9. Is the school walkable from Caldecott station?

Please pardon me for so many questions.

                  Thank you in advance!

                    Hi

first congrats to your gal for getting into RGS

                    1. How often do they need to wear full uniform blouse plus pinafore in a week? Do they put on the tie once a week for assembly ? Not everyday, wednsday they will wear culottes

                    2. Is the school blouse the same one for RI (JC) 4 years later? Your gal would have outgrown the RGS blouse by then.

                    3. Do they have school socks or any white socks is ok? white socks

                    4. Track shoes with 70% white is correct right? But it can be any colour for the 30%?80% white, 20% can be any color, but not too flashly.

                    5. Does the school have only one canteen? Are there other little food kiosk or cafe around? How many stalls are there in the canteen? Able to share the variety available pls?yes one canteen

                    6. Can any experienced mums pls share the cca selection process pls? DD will chose the CCA interested in then interview by the CCA teacher and shortlist by seniors. If not selected, will go for 2nd round

                    7. Do we buy books from the school bookshop? Do they sell uniform too? Or uniform is only bought from bibi baba ? You can buy books from the bookshop or outside if you can find.Uniform bibi & Baba.

                    8. May I know what’s the laptop requirements like? Do they need to carry laptop to school everyday?
The school will advise the laptop specs, most of the time will use it.

                    9. Is the school walkable from Caldecott station?
Braddell is nearer 6 min walk, Caldecott is a distance away about 10 mins walk and that stretch is quite quiet in the morning.I feel braddell is safer, why don’t you check it out yourself?

I saw posting by Cbk that girls have been allowed to wear t-shirt and culottes every day except Tuesday. Have they now reverse to only allowing culottes once a week instead of most of the days?

                        Hi parents,

Does anyone have information on where to buy the uniform or to join a parents group? Any booklist to share?

                        Thanks!
