What are the challenges you ve faced this year?
      1. I would say memorising the teachers' name! πŸ˜“ I always forget them haha!

      2. Memorise the room codes is a problem for me because in primary school we just say the room name but in secondary school, there are room codes (Block, Level, Index). For example, B2-02 means Block B, Level 2, and 2nd Classroom.

      3. Calling teachers using the telephone outside the staff room. This always stresses me because my primary school does not use telephone to call teachers in the staff room. We just simply walk into the staff room back in primary school! πŸ˜‚ (I recently learnt that not having a calling system for teachers is quite rare haha)

      4. More Independence. Some teachers don't mark homework, instead, they just go through and we mark ourselves. And some subjects (especially coursework like Art, D&T, F&N) requires us to submit on time if not we minus 5% from our grade! One of my classmates dropped from B3 to C6 like that! :scared:

Overall, I think it will take 3 months to adapt but it will depend on the student.

Any study tips you would recommend for the P6's that are going to Secondary 1 next year?
        Yes.

Take a dictionary. Start from the letter A, read and memorize the words. End at letter Z. Repeat the process backwards.

Probably won’t help much but better than doing nothing.

(I would have also suggested a phone book or yellow pages in place of a dictionary but I doubt anyone has one of those lying around anymore)

Languages: Feedback is important! This will help in your narrative or expository writing!

Mathematics and Science: Understand concepts and memorise formulas and definitions! If you have questions, please ask immediately! You will lose out very fast if you wait last minute!

Humanities: Feedback for essays are important! Don't just memorise, also understand them at the same time, that way you can easily link concepts in your essays! Also, if you are slow writer, practise writing fast, I can't emphasise so much! I lost 7 marks in History because I had no time to write 1 essay! (My school tests History with 4 SUPER LONG answer questions and 2 essays! All in 1 hour and 30 minutes!)

D&T and F&N: Please follow instructions very clearly! If you are unsure, ask your teacher! My classmate unsure of which tool to use in D&T, he end up cracking his plastic in half accidentally! :scared:

Overall, please submit coursework homework on time! (Especially Art) One of my classmates dropped from B3 to C6 in Art like that!

I sleep quite late (I have the option to sleep early it's just I don't want to)
So if you assume we follow the usual recommendation of sleeping at 9pm, that would be around 7-9 hours of sleep (depending on how far your house is from the school)

In my school, yes, a huge majority of Sec 1 students bring their cellphones. (Maybe only 1 or 0 students in each class does not bring a cellphone). If you mean have, everyone will have, but there will be some students that won't bring.

The Secondary 1 posting results will be released next Tuesday (Dec 22) at 9am, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced.

The posting results can be accessed through the following channels:

                        - Short Messaging System (SMS) text messaging, if it was provided during the application process

                        - S1 Internet System; or

                        - At the student's primary school

In previous years, students would report to their posted secondary schools on the next working day after receiving the information. In light of the COVID-19 situation, students do not need to physically report to their posted secondary schools this year, said MOE.

Instead, students should refer to their posted schools’ websites from Dec 22 for more information such as instructions on the online purchase of books and uniforms, booklist, and the reporting details.

Parents of the incoming Secondary 1 cohort who are on Parents Gateway will also receive instructions from the posted schools from the afternoon of Dec 22.

\"If students are unable to report to their posted secondary school on the first day of school on Jan 4, 2021 due to valid reasons, they may contact their posted secondary school directly to confirm that they are taking up the place, and the school will be able to reserve the place for them,\" MOE added.

Parents and students may refer to MOE's website for more information.
