Just to add on...plenty of options depending on budget, in the large swathe from Gilstead Road all the way to Cambridge Road:
Evelyn Road, Newton Road, Surrey Road, Lincoln Road, Keng Lee, Kampong Java, Suffolk, Derbeyshire, Thomson Road. Old and new developments aplenty.
Even though virtual viewings are possible, I strongly recommend your friend do an on-site recce. There is major construction for the North-South Corridor along Thomson Road. Try to find a unit facing away from all the noise and dust.
Remember to double-check by keying in the exact postal code into One Map before committing.Got it. Took a screenshot. Thank you. -
Hi,
Just to check, I currently stay in the East of Singapore and my daughters pre-school are in the East.
Am thinking of enrolling her in a primary school in the central of Singapore.
If I rent a place within 1km of the school before primary school registration starts, do I need to stay there everyday?
Or can I just stay there over the weekend and only when she starts P1 then I stay there everyday?
Reason being her pre-school is in the East and if we were to stay there since June/July, then for 6 months need to travel all the way back to East for her preschool. -

You can do anything you want provided you don’t get caught. By law, you are supposed to be staying in the address stated in your nric

Years back, we encountered this problem, but we resolved it after we got our new home by making extra effort to travel fr the new location to the pre-school for the remaining few months. S’times hubby will drive, other times we just cab. As I recall, it was only abt 3-4 mths. Alternatively, change Pte-sch as Zac’s mum had suggested.

Hi,
If I would like to change my address to my in-law’s address for the school registration at phase 2C, I know I’ll have to make a declaration that I stay there etc.
However, if I would like to use my address instead for school registration at the last minute (cos I’d like to look at the situation of the registration), will it be possible? Or once I make that declaration I cannot change anymore?
Also, based on MOE’s website that we will need to stay at the address for at least 30months from P1, does that mean for the whole of 6 years have to stay there? -

Firstly, you can make a declaration that your in-laws are the caregivers, and their address will be max considered as 1-2km, even if the actual distance is <1km. You do not need to stay there, and you can choose to register as that address or your current. The address used must be valid till end of P2 (30 months from start of registration process). If you really change your NRIC address and stay there, then don't need declaration coz it's your residence, and can use as <1km.

Oh! I thought I’ll have to stay there.
Another question though:
If I make a declaration and register using that address, does that mean I will not be eligible for student care? -
