I posted the question below on a thread about food catering, but haven't received a reply. Reposting it here as I think more people will read it here? Thanks in advance!

Anyone with recommendations for catering for a small dinner at home? I am looking for something about $18-20 per head for 10 pax. Just nice Chinese/Asian food. No need to set up, just have the food in disposable self-serve trays. In mid-March.
If you’re looking for individually packed food (no hot warmer trays required), have a browse here, plenty of popular food brands that cater:

      https://www.caterspot.sg/l/bento-packed-meal[/quote]
Thanks! But was hoping to get particular recommendations - like 1-2 names! There are too many to choose from, and I don't recognise the names. Also, was thinking more of buffet dishes, not bento.

I like Orange Clove. But like all catered food, gets tired of same taste after awhile. There used to be a very good & affordable Rasel Catering but lost track coz I nvr use catering often. Only for a couple of occasions. Home cooked meals are still the best since I’m averse to MSG.

Orange Cloves is under Neo Group. Neo Garden and Orange Cloves are sister companies.

For those who don’t mind paying a bit more for better quality food for your guests, Orange Cloves is the one. The food is nice and more atas. Neo Garden is more economical, I only remember their signature curry chicken is nice.

Unfortunately, Orange Clove has a minimum order of 15 pax! The group I’m having will be 10 pax at most (since I can only have 8 visitors), and may be a little smaller. Yes, I agree that the Neo Garden menus are fairly standard - like many of the wedding buffet receptions I’ve attended in the past! But we are not chilli eaters, so there’s not a lot of choice (cannot have menus that are mostly spicy like nonya, Indon, Thai, Indian…). I have until beginning of March to decide (event is 6 March), so would welcome more suggestions!

Home-cooked is not an option for me - I can cook for 4-6 unfussy and familiar people, but not for so many. And some of these are people I don’t know (friends of friends), so I cannot subject them to my cooking standard. If not for the COVID period, we would meet outside!

                      slmkhoo,
Good thing 10 pax easier to settle esp in Spore food paradise. Just a suggestion for yr situation to head down to Alexandra Village or ABC which are both near you & get :

                      1. Thai mango salad
                      2. Roast Duck
                      3. Stir fried veggies fr the famous Thai stall
                      4. Hiananese Chicken (or just IKEA fried chicken wings across the road)
                      5. Sweet Sour Lychee Fish
                      6. 3-egg Chinese Spinach
                      7. Ngor Hiang

Theres lots more choices in one stop shopping & easy to tabao back to your place. SKP is so near your place making it easy for you to clear table & more on to desserts thereafter. 😉

                      * I didn’t suggest your Peranakan restaurant coz their portion will not justify the price for 10 pax. 😅

Hope you find a solution soon.
