Thanks moonee, she isnt some super duper maid but then kids are adjusted to her and as such she is ok lah dunno should I throw her out :?

Just thinking if I cut her sal maybe if she is doing on purpose wont do it again :?
How to get sick on purpose? And will it breed resentment?

True, it’s impossible for us to second guess what they are trying to do. Just let her know that if she keeps falling sick, you don’t have the help you need, you will have to let her go…and if this is what she wants.

Sometimes, it’s no use keeping someone who doesn’t want to stay.

Talk to her gently and nicely…should be ok. Tell her frankly that you like her work (and what aspects) before launching into the negatives.

Aw, no worries lah. I’m glad there is such a platform we can share our woes and joys…

The last thing you should do is to make the maid feel that she is indispensable, in my own opinion.

Well I have always told that we can do everything without her so she shouldnt feel that she is very important 😉

But if you are keeping her because the kids have grown used to her, isn't this a sign to her that she is starting to get indispensable?

I would take both as mutually exclusive things. I kept my ex maid for 5 years becos she knew our patterns and I figure I have to go through the same trauma again; but at no point in time would I let her feel that I cannot do without her (then again, she only in charge of cleaning the house). So we were both cognizant of that fact.

I told her the same sentence, \"I can do without her.\"

                  My house is more cleaner.........

                    Hello all,

                    Thank goodness for \"automatic\" maids!

My maid seldom got sick but once kid kerna seasonable flu, she will also kerna and then I too will kerna! But so far for flu she will automatically take \"Lemsip\" for couple of nights then sleep and see whether she got better or not. If not, I will ask her to go see doctor and get flu medication. But flu medication makes her sleepy so she will only take at night or I tell her to take in afternoon so that she can nap when the boy naps as well!

But my maid is quite sensitive to rain, a few drops only she will have runny nose! She used to have runny nose and sniff in the morning quite often until I told her she must blow-dry her hair after washing in the early morning! Because leaving hair wet will cause her to sneeze and nose to run. I bought a brand new powerful hair-dryer for her and ever since she uses it, her runny nose has stopped!

She is also quite sensitive to chilli sauce and food left overnight. Chilli sauce gives her diahorrea and food not fresh she will get stomach pain. Not that we make her eat leftover food but her stomach is much more sensitive than mine. When I eat the leftover food & chilli, OK for me no problem leh? But when she eat got problem. So now she avoids chilli and leftover food. I told her not to cook so much lah! She do the cooking and I am full time working so I won't be around to eat what. So she got to control her cooking quantity mah since she manages the whole kitchen!

The only scare we got was when she just joined us not long during her first year she suddenly got side pain until her face turns white. We got to call the ambulance to send her to the hospital! But after 2 hours she got better and we took her to specialist to see whether urine track got stones? But after a while she said don't waste money also no more pain!

Thank God after that OK! Throughout all the above incidences it did not affect her work. The whole house nobody is around most time except herself. I told her right from the beginning she has to manage by herself and take rest as necessary in the afternoon.

Maids who are not automatic better don't renew the contract. 😛

                    :celebrate:

This reminds me of my sisters maid tat came by by home last yr, she told my maid to use tissue paper to wipe the table, my maid told her its costly, she replied \"not your money , why u care! \" My sis eventually changed her.
