Err... BR COP is 198. I'm sure can make it.
DSA? No idea yet. Not much hope :gloomy:
A bit like your case...maybe aim to “go back” affiliated school. But dunno whether can make it or not...DSA also like no talent good enough.
-

Better bring the discussion here hehe..
How is she doing in tests etc? If she's doing OK, then there's probably no real need to do extra until a few weeks before exams, and just keep to the \"a few questions outside school hw\". I believe in measuring by achievement, not time or quantity. Of course, if she makes mistakes or shows weaknesses, then you should insist that she does extra to work on those areas. I don't know why you say \"sadly only story books\" - I can't imagine why kids would voluntarily read school books if they don't need to, and not all kids like non-fiction. I was a 2-storybook-a-day kid until about Sec 3 when work got heavier, and still read about 4 books a week till I got to JC. I owe a lot of what I know to story books - besides language and vocab, you can pick up a lot of general knowledge that way.MrsKiasu\" post_id=\"2020888\" time=\"1618966343\" user_id=\"43981:
Just sharing ..I have been lax with my younger child since start of P1. Maybe abit difficult to believe, the younger pack own school bags, do hw on own unless she needs my help, remember what to bring to school for cca and enrichment days etc. I only do spellings with her on Sun. All was ok till now..she still do all those on her own but due to lack of discipline in doing revision at home. A little more than a few qns outside the school hw she will give me the face of ..ahh so much! Most of her free time still spent on reading but sadly only story books. I have to now try to get her to do work other than given by school.
What sort of \"work other than given by school\" are you trying to get her to do? If it's already stuff she knows and can do, it might be boring. If you dress it up to make it more \"different\", it might make it more palatable. Get her to write a story, or a script for a puppet show, make the puppets, and put on a performance. Get her to calculate ingredients etc when baking or cooking. Get her to make a scrapbook (physical or digital) related to a science topic. Some of these would work better for the holidays, but some can be done bit by bit over a few weekends.
She was ok during lower primary but not so okay this year coz expectations are higher now. She managed to get the letter from cc for P2 level. When she didn't get it early this year I know she has slipped..and slowly realised quite bad in fact. Usually bits assessments we dont do revision. Like this round prep for SA1, we started doing and to my horror, 1st full Maths paper done was at 60s. I was surprised too with her English (haven't started Eng revision tho) looking at how much story books she has read. Not much revision tho as in now Oral has started we only started revision for Math/Sci. That also very relax kind of revision. I have problem also. During dd1's time, tuitions like so important.. but for this gal, she is like the 'forgotten' one. Always think she is still young, can continue happy go lucky attitude.
Our school dont give alot of hw. She likes to do baking with me.. more of wants to play type.
From what I see, maybe need to bring her focus back to studies. Concentration not tip top type plus mind wandering around with the story in story books, i guess. You asked her find things, in front of her also cannot see. -
But we don’t know how the AL works

You'll be briefed about it eventually. But for most kids, AL or T-score makes no difference - they still have to study, take the exams, and in general, the smarter/harder-working kids will do better than the less smart/hard-working. So no need to worry about that now. Just get her into a good steady routine of work and revision.
But we don't know how the AL works
If her work is slipping, then you have a good reason to impose more rules and requirements. She will surely realise too that her performance is not up to par. You may have to set a timetable, have a chart for her to tick off items daily, and restrict story books and leisure for after the necessary work has been done. -

Yeah slmkhoo, need to impose some rules on her le. I just checked the gradings, cut and paste to let both gals have a feel.

Target to get back to affiliated school sounds like a good idea, kids these days like easily stressed. Hope they can also learn to adapt and learn to take it in their stride.

Yes for me esp for kids who do not have special likes towards something, if have affiliation can just aim for it.

Today one of the graduated UG seniors came back to 母校 to say hi & lead some fun games during CCA.
Hi-5 sky! UG = uniform group? My DS is also in a UG and he loves it (more for the group socialization aspect. Other responsibilities are a bonus) Also hope to continue same UG in secondary school!
DS noticed the senior was in the affiliated secondary school uniform, so he asked him a million & one qns about that school and the UGs there, school envt, canteen food etc etc. Seems like he’s convinced what’s over there on the other side waiting for him, clearer what he’s aiming for now. I’m so happy to see some self-motivation on his part. Sometimes hearing from seniors’ experience is the most convincing. -
