        HBL from Wednesday onwards...

But tuition centers \"should\" move online. Weren't tuition centers a big cause of this in the first place?

        I don't get it...

HBL is a good move. At least, safer to stay at home. But I think there are some P6 students still taking mid year SA1 exam next week, until Friday then end. Their exam disrupted or their school postpone exam to July ?

But for those who just finished exam, they can take a break now

Great that finish exam then HBL. If not have to keep studying until take exam.

Bad that the tuition can only online for long almost a month, have to remove my kid from tuition's online classes. Don't wish to spend money on online classes instead of physical tuition, without any discount or rebate. Half the time my kid just playing about when at home online study. And also still nobody mention anything on tested syllabus to be reduced for final year exam like last year, despite some parents whose kids are taking final year exam and got this type of disruption. 😢

Prof Mak says new strain seems to affect children more so we see more cases in schools. Could it be because ALL the children are not vaccinated yet?

A bit contradicting / incoherent here, since they think children are more vulnerable yet preschools are still open. So the decision whether to send the preschoolers to kindergarten or not, is thrown back to the parents, haha. I recall that for last year, Kindergartens were only open to those kids whose parents were essential workers.

If HBL is continued for an extended period, the authorities will probably adjust the syllabus. But this is only for the last few days of the term, when there's probably not that much being taught anyway, so it's not really that long.

I think there concern is more transmission than kids catching it per se, since kids don't seem to get a serious illness. But older kids are more likely to contact more people and hence spread it around, especially through tuition classes, school buses etc, and there is still quite a large no. of younger adults who are not vaccinated, and who will then spread it further. Preschoolers are less likely to contact so many people, and there is also the need to allow their parents to continue working. If cases continue to spread, I expect preschools will also close and we will be back to CB conditions again.

Will you allow your teens to take the pfizer vaccine?

Preschoolers also take school buses and attend enrichment classes (Berries, TLL etc) just like older kids so they did get in contact w others too.

Last week my neighbor’s kid had a bad flu and was given 5 days MC and the kid eventually went back to kindergarten without swabbing!!

The 5 day MC without swabbing for Covid for preschoolers need to be reviewed. And I think preschoolers catch flu, HFMD etc. at a faster rate compared to older kids.

Not sure... Better don’t do things in a haste, must have enough studies and evidence that it is perfectly safe for children before going ahead.

So far, all the children who caught covid recently, NONE is seriously ill.

Even though none are seriously ill, we don’t know if any have long Covid as yet. If I am not wrong, some of the asymptomatic patients have severe long Covid symptoms, including super scarred / damaged lungs. Hopefully vaccine will help to lower the chance of catching and developing Covid, and if you develop Covid, not to get severe disease.

I wonder if the 40-44 year old batch will be the 1 st to have the spaced out vaccine administration. Supplies must be tight.
