May I ask how easy is it to be selected as a parent volunteer for MGS primary? Would really appreciate if someone can advise (PM me).
Many thanks -
Hi Everybody may I check do i still need to go thru balloting if I am registration at Phase 2B and within 1km? And what is the probability of balloting if still needed. Example 30 vacancy but there is 35 applying at phase 2B within 1km therefore need to ballot. Or is it safe like there is usually 30 vacancy and around 25 applied at phase 2B within 1km and can go in straight? I couldn't find any information about this online and very desperate to know about this. Hope some kind soul can reply me on this god bless you. Amen!

Most of the years ballot 2B <1km, so prepare that. High chance to get in. If fail, then try 2C ballot.

Hi there, we applied at Phase 2B last year. If I remember correctly, there were 27 places, and 39 applicants within 1km. The stats are quite similar through the years. So we went in with prayers and an open mind, telling ourselves that if we don't get MGS, we'd be at peace with our backup choice, BTPS (which is pretty decent actually).

The good thing about being within 1km is that there's nothing stopping you from applying again at Phase 2C, should you not get in at 2B. Having said that, I wish you the very best. God bless!

OMG seriously. Thank u for replying my question parent, appreciate it. I was thinking should I try MGS phase 2B within 1km and being only 70% confident to get in or should I just apply paya lebar methodist girl sch which can get in straight at phase 2B within 1km as I checked that that past Yr no need balloting.. Not sure which should I choose. I'm in such a huge dilemma. May I check with you your registered last year is it? And how is it did you child get a slot within the 27 places? π

Hi Davis, really ongoing you make me filled with hopes. But there is another parent replied saying that I will still need to ballot even at Phase 2B and within 1km distance. Ahhh I'm so confused now. May I check your daughter enrolled in MGS previously?

Hi, no worries, glad to be of assistance, I can understand the anxiety as a fellow parent. PLMGS is another really good option, and as you rightly mentioned, the odds of getting in at Phase 2B are significantly higher. It all depends on how much risk you are willing to stomach. Haha.. there is no right answer, and it's entirely up to you.

And yes, we registered last year at Phase 2B, and got in. There's always that element of fortune. So as long as you go in with a clear idea of your Plan A and Plan B schools, and embrace the result, you - and most importantly - your daughter - will enjoy primary school life. Cheers!
