It depends on a number of things lah (most of it, uncertain currently):
- Who are the candidates;
- Where the candidates are being fielded;
- State of the pandemic / economy.
Not so easy to unseat an incumbent or Minister ok *

My guess is places like East Coast (East Coast Plan redux?), Punggol (depending on how Pasir Ris / Punggol is going to be broken up) and Tampines are going to see fierce battle (again).
Newer estates with a younger populace (typically left-leaning, PMET, etc) will continue to drift away from PAP.

* That said, the relative safety of GRC is crumbling. It took the opposition 23 years to bring down the first GRC... and only 8 years to bring down the second.

IMO, it is a well-written article that reflects ground sentiments.

Anecdotal evidence and open expressions of disaffection in the social media space would suggest that there is certainly unhappiness that early calls for a pause to arrivals from high-risk countries had gone unheeded.

It is this, coupled with the suspicion that complacency had set in, that upset the complainants. And it is exacerbated by the perception that their honest misgivings have either been met with silence or deflected by officials who believe they have thought through everything and that the disgruntled Singaporeans just do not get the big picture.

What fuelled this perception is the regular official reminder that Singapore needs migrant workers and that there will be a grave economic cost if the country shuts its borders. This has not gone down well because Singaporeans, by and large, do understand that foreign workers are needed in construction, nursing and other sectors which the local workforce shuns. And they are not clamouring for a complete shutdown of the borders.

OYK, in my opinion.
- for only keeping to his narrow kpi of opening up (although I acknowledge the other ministers shld hv voiced out as well
- for not even ensuring the basic task of segregating high-risk flights when they come in, causing intermingling in the secure zones (the Changi Airport Grp mgt should also take the hit here).

Err... He represents Sembawang GRC, a notoriously difficult place for opposition parties, especially if it's going to be SDP or NSP contesting there again. He will be safe from any backlash.

It will be those 'collateral damage' that will see their head roll If they break up Punggol from Pasir Ris (no choice, getting ridiculously big), Sun Xueling / Janil Puthucheary / Desmond Tan won't have the clout to helm it. Hence, whoever they send to lead the team has a very high chance of being Ng Chee Meng part II.

I also agree if my family is in boiling water, I would try all means to get them out to a safer place where I am. This is human nature.

Oh, I don't mean he will be voted out... or even kicked out by his own party. I don't think there will be any repercussions to any of them or their jobs- that's not really how politics work here in Sg.

I was just saying that this time, I think he's the main cause of the issue for pushing through the agenda and also negligent in the controls.
