Regarding point 1, avoid using FriXion pen and for point 3, I would advise applying SG_KP1’s suggestion for e-dictionary too.

I bought an extra calculator for my DD. Just want to have the peace of mind that if calculator really suddenly blank out, she has a backup.

I did this too for my boy last year. Thought I was the only person though, so I was in hiding until now.

Hi jus read the psle exam booklet. Just want to understand a few things
1. only ballpoint pens allowed. I believe many students are using gel pens e.g. sarasa etc. You think these will be allowed?

2. Correction tape not encouraged. But if need be, still can bring and use? Understand from my child that his teacher was specific in not allowing use for Chinese composition, but he was allowed to use for other mid year papers.

3. Do you all bring extra batteries or bring extra calculator for maths? I realised his calculator model battery is not easily replaceable. Yet to try. (Casio)

Pilot G2 gel pens are allowed. They discourage most likely is because these pens are not waterproof so they can smear or if water spilled on it.

Safer not to use correction tape as they are afraid the kids may forget to write on it after erasing. Just fyi, in my girl's sec school now, no correction tape during all exam papers. So that will eventually happen anyway.

If the calculator is in good condition, just change the battery beforehand. The battery should last a good 2 to 3 years so this would be a good time to change it. If not, just buy a spare one.

1. Most pens are fine as long as they don’t leak or smudge too easily, my child used sarasa last year for psle. Erasable pens are not allowed for obvious reasons.

2. My child used correction tape for all papers. When possible to cancel, will cancel instead of taping.

3. We have extra set of everything. Just buy another one and spare yourself the headache.

FWIW, SEAB has changed the instructions from \"advised not to use\" (2020) to \"do not use\" (2021) correction tape. My P5's school started to ban correction tape on exams middle of this year and quit selling it in the bookstore as well.

Hi, apologies. I've replied directly to that person before. I replied directly to your quoted text not to call you out but to highlight to everyone that SEAB's instructions have changed this year. I.e. what was OK last year may not be the best thing for people to follow this year. Apologies if you disagree but I believe the post is relevant and appropriate for people taking PSLE this year.

First question was “can use correction tape?”, which you responded “instructions say cannot (use correction tape)”.
So when another response mentioned “last year we used correction tape”, it is apt to point out that “the instructions have been changed for this year and now this year cannot use correction tape”.

I dont think it was pointed out to discredit anyone’s sharing of their personal experience, but just highlighting some changes that has taken effect for this year, for the benefit of all, esp those taking psle this year.

As it would benefit the poster more and let the poster know of these changes.
