So MOE's proposed solution to FDA's warning of increased risk of heart inflammation among youngsters from Pfizer and Moderna vaccines is to make it mandatory for our students to take them? Bravo CCS! He really is a joker. Except this is not funny.
:stupid: -
I think his English not good, he meant it to say “strongly encourage” but instead used “mandatory”. This man needs to know he is in charge of education not health, and he is in dire need for PR assistance!

Why did CCS mention today that he may make it mandatory for school children to be vaccinated? Because cannot hit quota of 2 out of 3 Singaporeans vaccinated by National Day?
A friend ask me, is CCS Minister of Education or Health? Shouldn’t he focus on kids’ education?
In a school, only P6s are vaccinated, then the unvaccinated P1 to P5 pupils can still go to school?
Just a few weeks ago, MOE said schools will not discriminate those students who have yet to take the vaccination. There will be no bias and schools will not give students/parents pressure!! Now school has yet to reopen and CCS flip Roti Prata!
Not credible to change his mind within so short a time!
Children have mild covid-19 infection in any case and vaccinated does not means not possible to be infected with covid-19 and non-transmissible when infected. The Bukit Merah View cluster, the TTSH cluster and the MINDSVille cluster have already shown all these.
There is no point to focus on the target of 2/3 of Singapore vaccinated. If we get there, good, if we do not get there, so what. It is better to have 90% of elderly vaccinated rather than have 2/3 of entire Singapore vaccinated of which the figure is largely bumped up by 100% vaccination of school children 12yo and above because some dictator from the army decided to make it mandatory. -

I also believe that he mis-spoke, whether from English standard or carelessness. I thought I heard it on the news, but this has not been reported in the official print or digital media today as far as I can see, so I expect that it is being quietly ignored. If enough people make a fuss, he will have to explain or retract, I suppose.

Although he is in charge of education, anything pertaining to students is also under his purview. In such wide-reaching policy matters, it's never only 1 ministry/minister that can speak on the matter. Which is why the COVID-19 response is a coordinated \"multi-ministry\" task force. -
It is in the Zaobao. Buried in the article 我国加快接种步伐 接种中心预约倍增.

So, just 1 day after our gov decided to reduce the quarantine period for overseas arrivals from 21 days back to 14 days, we have a case of someone developing symptoms and testing positive 2 days after his quarantine ended, resulting in Tuas Naval Base colleagues being quarantined. Way to go.
I am assuming the good folks know how to count and that his quarantine starting 10 June was for 14 days, and not 12, after exposure. So we have at least one documented 16 day incubation.
Or does it not count because it is not an imported case?

Sometimes I find …are we being too bold or that we have enough data to back up the decision?

I hope we are not under estimating the transmissibility of the virus.
