We have only 38.1% of population fully vaccinated. How to achieve 2/3 of population by 9 Aug?
One targeted solution for an immediate impact:
Parents who are not vaccinated or have not made an appointment for vaccination will be in Phase 2D of P1 registration, after everyone else has a go.

Que: Mad scramble for vaccination appointment. 30k more people added to the “done” list.

...1,000 household contacts of cases between September 2020 and end May 2021...

Which excludes the bulk of cases at MINDSville and Bukit Merah View since these were detected from June 2021. Wait. September 2020 already got Delta variant in Singapore?

        Well done.

This is where I say 69% my foot.

Singapore only received its first vaccine (the Pfizer vaccine) shipment on 21 Dec 2020 & it was then the 1st arriving in Asia. Moderna arrived on 17 February 2021. Sept 2020 happening alr? I wasn’t aware.

Think the report stated that “ NCID and MOH recently concluded a study of about 1,000 household contacts of COVID-19 cases between September 2020 and end-May this year.” I believe the reporter indicated “ A Singapore study has found that COVID-19 vaccination provides about 69 per cent protection against infection by the Delta variant of the coronavirus, regardless of symptoms, ...” quoting OYK as a subset of the data within that study, reflecting vaccine effectiveness against Delta. That’s how I read it to be.

Do you guys feel that we are pressured to take the vaccine due to the new restrictions? Cannot go cinema/concerts if not vaccinated cannot dine out with 8 pax if not vaccinated.

Yes, there is that. But it's not \"new\" restrictions - it's \"lifting\" of restrictions. If there were no vaccines, we would be in Phase 1or 2 indefinitely. So the choice is: unvaccinated - stay in those early phases; vaccinate - can have some restrictions lifted. Of course, there has to be some way to help those who cannot be vaccinated, and I guess some of those rules will also apply to those who choose to stay unvaccinated, but there is always likely to be a difference.

In Israel's study, they found the vaccine effectiveness to prevent symptomatic transmission have fallen to 64% (i.e. compared to between 80% and 90% in MOH's study), a drop from 94.3% when the delta variant was not available. This sounds in line with what we have seen in the recent TTSH, MINDsville and Bukit Merah View clusters.

It has been established by Israel and later by US CDC that myocarditis is a side effect of Pfizer vaccines, especially for young males. This is why Israel has been debating the need for vaccinating children in May 2021, with some health officials in Israel suggesting going ahead with only one dose for young teenagers.

This is the sort of debate on vaccine side effect and risk that we are sorely lacking here. Here in Singapore, it is managed like \"one recommendation to rule them all\". This is plainly bad policy making and assumes covid-19 imposed the same risk to people of all age group, genders and medical history.
