The thing is why adults who are mostly vaccinated wfh but our children below 12yo not vaccinated sent out to school? What basis leh? Economy wise more damage right coz the food ctrs at cbd suffer and likely office occupancy rate will suffer too or some offices just downgrade.

I m not so sure..was it on Monday or what when the MMTF talked.. did they mention that vaccinated ones will go to community care ctr something like that?
I vaguely remember that those fully vaccinated, if infected, would show little or no symptoms, hence not that likely to need hospital care as care from community care facilities shld be enough...

If that could be proven during these quite many cases period then it is something positive though.

Govt said to treat covid as endemic. We don't close shop when there is an outbreak of flu or hand foot mouth

Agree. We’ve to start settling our hearts down and since CB days till now, we’ve been learning to ensure we’ve masks on, clean everytime we’ve touch unknown surfaces or items & not go into crowds. Life shld get back to daily norm of accessing daily needs, exercise more, care for each other and our elderlies and those in need for an uplift with job changes & children learning to cope with less playmates.

Esteema, I am confused, do you agree that we should “open up”, live life as per normal and treat covid as common flu? Opening up means to also allow dining out in groups of 2pax or 5pax.

Or you think we should “close” so that MTF can bring the cases down from daily 3 digit figures? As quoted from your post posted on 21st July, you appear to be supportive of more restrictions.

Agree. With the daily 3-digit numbers, it’s best to be in safe side & cooperate with advisory.

Once community spread & at such high rates, it’s not a question of high number having vaccinated but we’ve got many vulnerable in our midst who are not just those elderly but those with pre-existing conditions & who cannot take vaccines for specific reasons but are able-bodied adults who may hv to care for young ones & cld also be working in the frontline. Continuous high numbers will also be burdening our medical resources & tracing effort if left unchecked & uncontrolled.

Vaccination helps lower infection tho not 100% & also different covid variants come into play.

Whilst we’ll be less infected, we might carry some load to infect others ard us. Not stay fully open, our Bz suffers. Open & our population may spread (esp fast spreading Delta) fast amongst community & burden frontliners & hospital resources. So, it’s not easy for MOH to make every effort to call to ramp u vaccination but MTF wants to help economy & bz, everything plan swee swee vaccinate & get ready to open up trade & green lane then hit again by Delta & hv to quickly ringfence & restrict again. If we continue w/o restrictions to dining & small Grp activities, imagine the faster spread of Delta fr that fishery port infection fr index Indonesian fisherman. I don’t want to imagine - all or >80-99% of us Q at clinic or hospital/community beds & nurses & docs overworked with kids having no adult supervision or similarly affected needing parents’ comfort. What then do we need the shops & F&B for when all succumbed to covid infection? Maybe providing F&B niche in hospital food?

The best we can do is cooperate & heighten our alertness for our family & ppl ard us. I don’t envy the frontliners nor the Taskforce having to make tough decisions but I give them great respect for persevering with the tough work & yet able to coordinate btwn ministries & btwn diff subj experts & watch what is happening round the world. A lot of respect indeed for the mutual trust & support they give each other to move things fast to mobilize resources. We see a lot of sufferings of frontliners in our neighboring countries lacking support & resources, whilst our team here watch covid spread closely, gives full support to frontliners, respond to needs of bz with stop-gap support and tend to our young school-going children’s needs. Not an easy feat to balance. Throw stones only if u’re able to juggle all fronts. But hv compassion not just to leaders but those behind who gave expert advices.

Actually for P6 kids who have yet to turn 12yo, had they taken their vaccine? If a good portion of the P6 are year end babies, that means they won’t be vaccinated till PSLE is over?

Statistics showed that so far, among the children here who caught Covid, none was critically ill. If the Covid thing drags on 1-2 years, it’s not possible to keep the kids at home for 1-2years, or longer if this pandemic continues to drag on?

Things do not happen in one snapshot. Covid is not just moving target but it’s got it’s different mutations/variants. We hv a masterplan, but we need contingency plans to shift our paradigm in response to diff attacks fr diff frontage. Being fixated with one plan maroon us in the mud with no flexibility to quickly & swiftly take attacks fr other fronts. Yes, our businesses need to survive, but if ano looming attack comes along, we need to shift plans (even just for an unspecific duration) before we execute that longer-term masterplan. Yet, if we ringfence, our poor businesses suffers & many SMEs might face its demise. To balance is not an easy science nor art. Question is, are our population fast & cooperative enuf to move the ship quickly together in response & w/o white noises. I’ve confidence we can do well together if we stay united.

It is never easy to adapt a different mindset to focus on number of severely ill or in ICU instead of the 100+ new cases daily.

I think the approach needs to be changed as compared with last year since more ate fully vaccinated
DH still thinks it’s enough to just look at ICU beds only but I agree with you that it’s not easy to shift our mindsets. Is it a men and women thing? Men tend to be less emotional and more objective while women worry at the individual level, with empathy for the aged parents and young children.

As of today, there are more than 100+ active clusters! 7 more require oxygen support, up from yesterday’s 26.

I was also thinking, would any illegal butterflies come out to admit and get tested? Most of them are like on STVP from Malaysian, South Korean, PRCs, Thai, Vietbu and only yesterday then I know those KTVs even have SIA girls!

Yesterday residents from 2 blocks in Ang Mo Kio and West Coast had to go for mandatory testing after 17 residents were found positive. A lot of such cases nowadays, aggressive testing or hidden reservoir or aggressive testing to surface hidden reservoirs?

Actually I don't expect it to close continuously but we should be able to adapt close and open as new 'normal'. Coz I don't think it will stop mutating..as layman I think probably some mutations will be milder but some may be more dangerous. So we go accordingly. Businesses and students same. It won't be going away so fast.
