All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

I have applied to be a PV in school A last year but the school did not start their selection process. Then subsequently, I applied to be a PV in school B and was selected. I have in fact started volunteering my service in school B. Now, school A calls me up for an interview. Can I be PV in 2 schools and decide which school to apply later on? Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much! Does school normally ask whether we are already volunteering in another school? Do we need to disclose this information? And is this a common practice by many PV? Sorry to ask so many questions at one go :-). Thanks!

I know some parents 'split' the task : one does PV in A while the other PV in B .....that was a case of worrying kena ballot in Phase 2B under PV

Hi alng,

You do not have to disclose info to the school that you are doing PV in another school as well. It’s ok, I guess all parents here understand your concerns.

My friend did PV at RGPS (watering plants) and Pei Hwa because she wanted to understand the culture and environment of the 2 schools. In the end, she decided on Pei Hwa as it was nearer home. For both schools, she would be under Phase 2B.

I applied for PV ,RGPS,I attended the interview…but last week i got the result…that they have not shortlisted my name for PV…dont know what the reason?anybody got selected as PV for RGPS?

is there any chance to get a seat in chij toapayoh, in phase 2c which is 2.66km from house?how abt the balloting in chij toapayoh, whether citizens get a more chance in balloting?

Based on last year only, there was balloting within 1km, so anyone outside of 1km will not get a chance to ballot.

Citizens get double chance, but ONLY if they get to participate in the balloting. For instance, if there are 20 vacancies in IJ for Phase 2C, and 20 PRs living within 1km, and 40 citizens outside; the 20 PRs will get in, and the 40 citizens not even get a chance to ballot.

Depends on which sch you apply for PV - some schools which may not be that \"hot\" (maybe ballot in phase 2C 1-2km or >2km only) will have vacancies for PV. Some parents will try for 1 \"hot\" and 1 \"not-so-hot\" schs for PV - to increase their chance of getting in a sch of their choice.
