Seriously I don't think our family can be so let down our guard go overseas for leisure travel at least for next few months lor. Travel to us will be to see family members only.
We won’t travel for at least the next 2 years.

DH says a lot of viruses will keep mutating until it is able to coexist with the human hosts or dies off eventually. If the Spanish Flu experience offers any valid lesson, maybe by next year DEC, Covid will just vanish into the thin air….

We are mentally prepared to not travel until next year end. Fingers crossed for June 2023!

I was hoping to travel this Nov-Dec holiday but I think at this point no hope even if some restrictions are eased (i.e. even if can will likely decline the opportunity). Based on scheduling, probably Nov-Dec 2022 at the earliest now.

I was also travelling with kids ~3x per year pre-COVID, but don’t miss it too much. Just spend time together here instead. I do hope they (kids) can travel for school purpose soon…

I hope that our MTF will learn from other countries' experience and adjust policies accordingly. My opinions below.

I find it kind of contradiction. OYK said be mentally prepared that daily cases and death rates WILL go up. So even if SHN free, would anyone want to risk his life to visit SG whose cases are inching up on a daily basis? Not likely right?
I think they have to reconcile out case counting with other countries. I believe that most other countries only count symptomatic cases. After all, asymptomatic cases don't occupy hospital beds, and aren't as infectious as symptomatic cases. And with high vaccination rates, the infection risk from asymptomatic cases can probably be discounted. Then our case nos. will not seem so scary, and will likely look very good in comparison with many other countries.

It’s like now, even if I were to offer you a free air-ticket to India/China for holidays, SHN free, would you want?

Another question, as we see more cases, will MORE folks here be put on QO?? Will Singaporeans be angry if we need to serve 14 day QO or LOA but tourists come in with no need 14 days SHN?
I believe they will work out a new system of quarantine where the fully vaccinated and the asymptomatic will be given shorter quarantines. And perhaps the quarantine duration will also end after a min. no. of days plus a negative test, rather than have a blanket 14 days (or whatever) for everyone. I also hope they will quarantine/LOA fewer people rather than the very wide net they cast now. They must have seen what happened in the UK when they relaxed a lot of rules but didn't reduce quarantine - so many people had to self-isolate that supermarket shelves couldn't be restocked and shops closed because all their staff were self-isolating. I'm sure the MTF will want to avoid that situation.

And I'm sure that they will try to keep some parity between travellers and residents. If they don't, the uproar will certainly make them look into it quickly!

My husband and I would be happy to travel once the quarantine/SHN requirements are lifted. Not really a \"need\" to travel, but we do enjoy travelling. But we'll also want to see what the situation is like in the destination country before deciding. We haven't felt the \"no travel\" that badly as we normally only travel about once a year, but this year we had to miss our daughter's graduation which was disappointing.

Well, let's hope there isn't a Covid-22 or something else...

Same here; also 3-4x annually with 1 long haul at year-end. Sometimes I think the situation is not so dire in those developed countries with high vaccination rate. My friends & relatives living in those developed countries that have put SG on green list, white list and Level 1 list, are all fully vaccinated with the same mRNA vaccines. They are going about their daily business like us here and told me it's not so jialat on the ground in reality. No one seems to tell me they are living in confinement or panic leh. They just take care by donning their masks when commuting. I suppose it's partly because their lands are vast and less densely populated than SG, so the cases/sqkm don't seem so high.

If we ever caught it, then hopefully we just need to serve out the MTF-''promised'' 7-day home quarantine when we come back. If there are outbound group tours that follow a controlled itinerary, I may consider joining one, though I understand that if one tour member kena, the whole coach will kena too! Hmm, maybe I should stick to F&E so I don't have to be 'dragged down' by someone not from my family!

But I'm ok if we can't travel also. I notice there are many new places I've not visited before in Singapore! So many new restaurants and shops have opened.
