The problem with indicative COP is this...
Thank both for the insight.
@floppy - we are already 2 ALs (13)behind the COP (11)for PLMGS to start with so i was thking although its indicative the COP might even be @ say 10. And so worse case is we cant get into PLMGS and balloting needed for TKGS at 2nd placing and needed balloting .
And therefore we might ended up losing entry into both schools now what i have just mentioned Vs if we were to put TKGS as 1st choice COP at (13) we are likely to at least secure a higher chance .
I was giving the outcome above as a thought and was looking at the risk .
Our ideal score is a result of AL10 so with this scoring we are @ least more confident with putting PLMGS as 1st choice .
If you think PLMGS actual COP might turn out to be ~10, TKGS actual COP might also be ~12. In which case, it doesn't matter how you arrange your choices since 13 won't get you there.
In any case, it's all hypothetical for now. You shouldn't put the cart before the horse. Good to understand how things work, but don't have to overthink. Do your best for PSLE and then, revisit this topic after the result has been released. -
Just to chip in my 2c here.
Given that your child herself is “pretty set in PLMGS” herself, I’d use that to have a frank talk with her about why she will miss out on PLMGS due to her Science score. She needs to come to the realization herself that she is the one who has to buck up & use all the techniques that her teachers & parents have been nagging her to do. A self-motivated child can climb higher than if we try to push or pull them upwards with our own limited strength. She is in the driver’s seat now and has all the controls at her disposal. The passenger cannot drive the car for her, even if we try to guide her along.
Then sit back and watch her work harder (if she decides to) for the actual PSLE. After the results come out, then u can sit down and work out your choices.
Don’t need to mention to her that prelims are very often set way tougher than the actual PSLE, or the secret plan will backfire. -
SJV2608, don’t be disheartened. Science dropped 2 AL also shows she may have forgotten the previous concept in the answering techniques. Still got time from now till PSLE which is about 4-5 weeks. Everyday revise Science topics by topics. Be afraid and let the fear kicks in to revise consistently. BTW your gals scored for the 3 other subjects pretty good. So I am sure your gal can do it. JIA YOU

Hi, does anyone know whether online websites will have 2021 prelim papers for print out soon?
If yes, normally around when they will be available online?
Another qn, is the cop we receive of the schs in AL grades only indicative, will it change slightly for next year? -
KKmama, for the 2021 Prelim papers should be available during the Sep holiday. Depend on how fast the vendor can get hold of the papers also.
As for the COP, it is indicative only for 2021 batch to select the schools based on their PSLE scores. -

Don't be disheartened. My girls also scored slightly below 80 at P5 EOY exams but they obtained A* at PSLE. Focus on getting more marks for her since now time is short. If she is weak in OE and not much can be done , then practise more MCQ and make sure that 56marks can be fully obtained. For OE, for each question, the first 2 parts are literally theory so just have to remember the key concept/words for each topic and regurgitate, no need to be too fanciful for those \"state\", \"name\" kind of questions. Hopefully these can also pull up some marks.
Thank both for the insight.
