And OYK said what? This is our 必经之路?

I don’t think he’s good in mobilising all stakeholders. You need someone who’s got Ops background to do this. He is an arts humanities person. Never in OCS or held a high rank in Mindef. No wonder so screwed up. Worse when he’s new on the job and probably no ones knows him and wants to help him. If you’re well-liked and well-connected, your peers would extend a helping hand in times of trouble. If you’re not, then only PM and HC can jump out to help you clean up your mess. Last year, things were diff. Every ministry chipped in to help LW and GKY. Now all scurry back to their holes to hide.

After apologising to the public over the QO pick-up time lag, they don’t seem to have improved their response rate. I read no fewer than 6 articles on people complaining about Certis/MOH’s lack of timely response after receiving the HRA and HRW.

If you had done a home recovery pilot, you should make sure all the planning’s been done properly before rolling out to all FV persons aged 12-69. Now everyone’s confused. It’s unacceptable. It’s spiralling out of control.

And now what? Now I see triaging gotta be done outside some temp tentage at TTSH?
Next year, class teachers will have headaches due to weak foundations as a result of HBL

Yesterday already 1400+ new cases, pretty high numbers. Think by the time HBL is over on 6th Oct, P1-P5 can continue to stay at home cos we could be seeing 4000+ daily new cases by then 😂

Scared of reading local news?

Read good news from Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state.

9 new cases (19 Sept) zero death out of 200 million state population after battling Delta variant earlier part of year.
50% of districts have zero cases.
Vaccination only about 40+%
How do they manage it?
https://www.indiatoday.in/coronavirus-outbreak/story/uttar-pradesh-reports-9-new-covid-cases-zero-deaths-1854395-2021-09-19

Whereas UK & Israel with 65% to 66% vaccination but still having
high new cases of 31,000 & 7000+ respectively after opening 4 mths / 2.5 mths

To summarize, the most vulnerable ones have died.
It is the most probable explanation.
This paper surmises that it is possible for a virus to die off by itself once the vulnerable ones got infected and died.
https://theconversation.com/vaccines-could-affect-how-the-coronavirus-evolves-but-thats-no-reason-to-skip-your-shot-165960

The other explanation is perhaps the cost of testing is too expensive and the doctors there just asked possible Covid cases to recuperate at home.

The new cases are still climbing.
Two sets of figures look worrying….
86 children below 12yo tested positive today.
This is quite expected as DH told me a handful of his colleagues’ kids got it from childcare or /kindergarten. Next is 276 dorm workers who tested positive. If the dormitories explode again like last year, it will add to the burden of the already strained healthcare system.

MOH must quickly adjust their protocols so as to avoid adding more stress to the healthcare system. Remember how we deal with the mega clusters in the dormitories last year? A lot of people were roped in to set up temporary care facilities at Tanjong Pagar Terminal and Singapore Expo to cope with rising numbers. Back then, the number of daily figures was very high!

All these measures forgotten already ah? How we treated the foreign workers last year could be applied to Singaporeans too. Simply put it this way, dump all Singaporeans aged 5yo-69yo who can’t do home recovery, to the common care facilities. Keep the numbers at hospitals as low as possible!!!

BAN dining-in for seniors above 60yo regardless of vaccination status for the time being. The number of seniors requiring oxygen ventilators is also growing.

Alternatively, STOP reporting daily cases! For what create non-stop panic, add to the stress without any benefits to be seen!

Not as large of scale as Expo or Tanjong Pagar Terminal but repurpose some facilities to provide more care to those who need it.

The younger groups also high numbers, will also spread to elderly..Tighten measures for all for awhile to stop further spread will cause more damage than letting it continue spread without enough prep like current mah?

Or agree la, just stop reporting and we all kinda get prepared to get it..but but healthcare system can take or not even if small percentage of us can be serious?

If want tighten better do it fast 🙏

For elderly, can impose temporary ban on dining in for those above 60yo regardless of vaccination status.

Restrict dining in to 1pax only. This will limit the time when mask is off.

27th Sep HBL will start for P1 to P5, so not too bad.

Dormitories that side, the authorities have to further tighten lor.

Finally… Complete lockdown HA/CB for at least 3 weeks to bring the numbers down, but of cos, we try to avoid that, if not, forever we will be stuck in this cycle.

Just thinking…for this kind of ‘infectious diseases’, private hospitals won’t accept admission right coz you need dedicated space etc?

The economic and social impact of lockdowns/CBs are too great at this point. Last year already the suicide rate among elderlies are at record high. I wager the lockdowns indirectly killed more elderlies than the COVID itself. I think pretty sure you will need more than 3 weeks to bring down the number, and then when the number spikes again when economy and travel open up must keep repeating the cycle to keep the number in check. If government does that, I am pretty sure they are going to lose a sizable amount of votes in the next election. Easy to ask lockdown when you are sure your job is not affected but for me any lockdown means loss of income. I got no money from government from the last 2HA so I sure as hell do not want any more lockdown.

I guess everybody's getting the jitter because it's the first time the case numbers have shot up dramatically. Those in Western countries have experienced the worst so they are actually glad life has somewhat return the normal despite their cases still in 5 or 6 digits a day.
