Thank you for the reply.
My kid not in JC yet but I don't think it is compulsory. While PCME (Physics-Chem-Math-Econ) or BCME (Bio-Chem-Math-Econ) will likely be two of the more common subject combos, you should be able to replace Econ with a ton of different options; History (EH), CLL (Chinese Language & Lit), CSC (China Studies in Chinese), etc.SG_KP1\" post_id=\"2036803\" time=\"1630979417\" user_id=\"188234:

Would like to check if Economics is a compulsory subject for Science stream students in HCI/HCJC? I checked their website and it looks that way..
See attached - the 4th subject can be lots of different choices (there is also one Math-Physics-Geo-CSC combo).
Others with kids in JC please feel free to correct.

Based on the info posted on their website (see image below), it looks like EC is compulsory if the student takes computer studies (CP). Is that right? Can the student drop Economics and replace it with another humanities subject?
https://postimg.cc/3dz3K6sH[/quote]I think based on the proposed standard combinations, the answer is yes. However, I'm not sure how easy it is to get EC replaced with another humanities (the PDF with the combinations says you can apply for an odd subject but depends on availability of resources, etc). I assume this has to do with how easy it is to make the schedule/timetable fit with dropping EC and pickup something else (and how many people want to do it, etc). My kid is only Sec 1 so I've never really inquired as to the likelihood you can get some random combination. Of course, it's also hard to know exactly what will be offered 3-4 years from now so it kind of just seems like an open item/risk (if know really don't like/want EC). -

Hi parents,
Will the students be asked to buy ten years series in JC2? Thanks -
Dd bought some ten year series through the school but not sure if it’s for all the subjects.
I think some of the less popular subjects like Eng lit/Geog (?) may not have published 10 years series available or the school may decide to compile the past year A level questions and answers for certain subjects themselves.
(Even for the ones which they are asked to buy the ten year series eg Economics , they are supposed to use the answers provided by the school and not those of the publishers)
The students would be asked to practise on some of these past year exam papers, so they can just follow what the school advises on whether to get the published ten year series or not then. -
Hi Lego,
Thanks for your reply! Maybe will wait for the school to ask to buy. -
Any kids in SMTP/GATE or Computing Talent Programme? I wonder what are the stakes to be in these programmes? Dd is interested but I am worried that she may be eligible to enter, but may not be a breeze for her to survive through the JC. Seeking parents’ advice if their kids are in any of these programmes, and what are their experiences like? What are the pros and cons to be in these talent programmes?

Hello, about Ntu early admission, what is the criteria to be selected by Hwa Chong? Is it based on prelim results only? or portfolio also considered? Around how many students get the offer? when do they receive the email?

Hi HC parents,
Wonder if anyone has sons who has graduated or outgrown their uniform? I just need one set (long pants) if you no longer need. He is moving on to Sec 4 next year, so he could no longer wear the Khaki shorts in lower secondary.
Reason being, we are not allowed to return to school to buy uniform. I thought of asking my son to go to the bookshop to buy his uniform on the first day. So I just need one set to get through the first day of school.
My son is size L - XL. Do pm me if you have HC boy uniform that you no longer need. Thanks a lot in advance! -
