From the statistic published at MOH's website https://www.moh.gov.sg/covid-19/statistics, there is 0 fully vaccinated under-60 admitted to ICU or died. So if we kenna, well, at worst might need oxygen but don't think will end up in ICU.

Walk through any during lunch time and dinner time, and weekends. Don't feel like got pandemic going on leh. I think people are just too tired of the restriction already.
Yes, you see people everywhere. So what if govt urge please stay at home and restrict movements outside, it is not going to work without laws.

So this will mean that our cases will unlikely go down and the ICU, hospital systems may continue to be under stress?

Looking at the graphs from MOH, they clearly show that FDA is right to say there is no real need for those below 65yo to take booster shots since none of the fully vaccinated folks are seriously ill or in ICU.
Instead of rushing those 30yo above to take booster shots, govt should work on getting 30-39yo UV to vaccinate as the data shows that this group is 10 times more likely to end up in ICU as compared to a 50-59yo who is already FV.

Think about what will be the consequence of roll back restrictions. The number of community cases will rise. Even 0.1% of those infected will ended up in ICU ward and 0.2% will die, then how many ICU Beds and health care workers need to cope with this rise of cases in Singapore. The extension of the restrictions are to prevent our health care sectors to be overloaded and stop more old people are died from the Covid 19 infection.

We just lose our freedom of socialize in a large group, children playing together and family do things together outside but can lesser the workload of our health care workers and save some old people lives. Why not?

Why are there some seniors (excluding medically unsuitable) still not vaccinated?

If the govt implemented mandatory vaccination for all except those medically unsuitable, would our situation be different?

            From: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/better-to-bite-bullet-and-roll-back-covid-19-curbs-than-delay-the-inevitable
While the battle against Covid-19 is tough, one wonders why existing measures need to be extended for another month.
With 84 per cent of the population already fully vaccinated, and with more than 600,000 people having received their booster shots, the vast majority is well protected against Covid-19.
By all means continue with the vaccine-differentiated measures, so people who are not vaccinated but still want to go out are protected in spite of themselves.
But there is no real need for the 4.6 million people who are fully vaccinated and the more than 600,000 who have received their booster shots to continue facing stringent restrictions for another month. Let these people, who heeded the Government's call to get vaccinated, eat and socialise in larger groups. Let the children play together, and families do things together outside their homes.
            ...
Mr Ong's target is to build up immunity against Covid-19 in the nation through booster shots (Didn't we say the same thing early this year about enough people getting fully vaccinated?) as well as having more people catch the virus while experiencing only mild flu-like symptoms so their antibodies and immunity will build up over time so we \"will see cases falling, and then we can open up social economic activities without cases rising very rapidly\".

But when will this happen? So far, only about 3 per cent of the population has become infected. At this rate, it will take years to achieve the level of immunity Mr Ong is aiming for. This is especially so, since there is a question mark over how long antibodies will stay high after the third vaccine jab.

If the level wanes after six months, the way it has after the first two jabs, will restrictions continue indefinitely as another round, or two, of boosters will be needed to prop it up again? Those who received their booster in September may need another one by March, and so it continues.

At this rate, will there ever be a right time to roll back restrictions? Perhaps it's time to bite the bullet and relax the curbs instead of delaying in the face of the inevitable.

            I couldn't agree more!
            I agreed.
Now the fully vaccinated ones are facing restrictions in order to protect the unvaccinated ones. Is this correct?

I think what most people are looking for is the truth, and the most encouraging data is fact that 98.6% of those with COVID symptoms are asymptotic without feeling anything at all. Chances are high that we are part of this group of people if we kanna :xedfingers:
MOH has been repeating this 98.6% that many ppl think that vast majority of the people who got COVID do not feel anything. Mind you, they only have 2 categories, asymptomatic/mild, and serious. Besides “serious” which means need oxygen and ICU, the rest are conveniently grouped as asymptomatic/mild. You know what are mild symptoms? I got COVID, so I know. It means having fever, very bad sore throat which feels painful when swallowing, loss of smell (cannot enjoy my coffee, no aroma), food taste bland, body aches. Most symptoms disappear after a week or so, but my smell and taste still have not come back.

COVID is closer than what we think. I am very careful type, have not dined out for months, refrain from touching things outside, wash hands and bathe once return from marketing. Yet I still got it (ART +ve). I most likely got it from my husband (PCR +ve), but he has no idea how he got it, he goes to work 2 days a week and dines outside with friend occasionally, besides that he is also quite careful and comply with SMM. Every day we hear 3k+ COVID cases, I suspect actual number is a lot more, as ART+ cases are not required to be reported.

Life is so odd and different with the restrictions.

It’s post exams. What did we as teenagers do to celebrate the end of exams? I recall, hanging out with friends at Takashimaya Square, or a session of bowling, or watching a movie - huddling together in a fastfood restaurant over a copy of 8 days or Teenage or Her World magazine. It’s just a simple form of stress release. Then dwelling on the predicament of not-great grades (happens every cycle), with friends and all. These are just natural ways to self-regulate our mental health - we let out emotions, relax, and then continue with life. And then we go back to spending tons of time with our CCA post-exams.

When I look at my kids, I feel they are living rather abnormal lives! It’s post-exams, and we can’t even dine out with family or friends! Schools don’t allow students to hang out together, even within school. Everyone is masked, and there is a physical and psychological barrier between individuals.

How long should society prolong this?

Some even need to live apart as a family…outing/socialising we can do without. My thinking is so long as we can retain the basic…health/life we can make up whatever lost in this period…

I think we are also protecting ourselves. It is not true that we only get mild flu like symptoms. There is loss of smell/taste (which we do not know it will take how long to recover) and we do not know if we will suffer from long COVID. We should not undermine the effects of COVID.
