I am still blur after reading all the posts 😐

                    Hi Happybirdks,

I spoke with one maths teacher (my neighbour) and she told me Abacus is good for kids as it speed up their mental calculation.

The only setback and crucial for parents to KIV is kids are drilled to the answers, not the 'steps' so they will have the tendency to simply write the answer and did not show the workings leading to the answer. I noted that on my DS at times and since corrected him.

Otherwise, I think abacus do serve its purpose.

                      hi adafew

this is exactly my worry. That is why i am apprehensive about sending my girl to cma. Not saying they are no good…just worry that she will have a problem when she is doing problem sums when she enters primary school.

just want to ask: how many months of attending the programme would a child knows how to calculate using CMA method?? :?

I was thinking of signing up boy for the class, but want to stop the class when he has 'sort of 'master'the technique of claculating using abacus, cos he is already in k2.hee.
