I just saw a photo - showing the timing for 22 and 23 Nov 2021. (Don’t know which school’s newsletter)
My son went for the 2nd round last year 2020, here was the test timing:
Tuesday:
English (9:00 am - 10.20 am)
General Ability 1 (11:05 am - 12:25 pm)
Wednesday
General Ability 2 (9:00 am - 9:55 am)
Mathematics (10:40 am - 12:30 pm)
As he was from non-GEP school so the school arranged bus to ferry all the students to the test center. The bus left at 7am, and the students were ferried back to own school by 1:30pm.

If anyone has past years timing, please can u share as I need a gauge to plan my leaves.
The above timing and subjects tested (from 2020) are identical to the photo for 2021. -

I can't share from the enrichment side because my son went in without any enrichment. I only bought a few Math Olympiad book for him to expose to the type of questions. Even then, the first semester in P4 was tough, as the curriculum was very demanding and the exam style is different, his result was not good! Going into 2nd semester, he started to get use to it, and the result has improved a lot. I am sure every kids in the programme would have some kind of struggle at the beginning because it's an adjustment from the mainstream. However, form teacher said that every year there are always few students who decide to pull out from the programme.

On reddit, several students who went through GEP said that they were \"trained\" by enrichment for GEP, and they got in. However, once they were in the GEP programme, they struggled to stay on par with their really gifted peers, who just breezed through difficult tests.
Can any parent who went through this with their children or similar, heard whether this is true?
I have a sibling who went through GEP, and the surprising thing is, his PSLE score was about 15-20 points lower than the rest of us. (Express stream). Can anyone explain whether GEP program helps to prepare for PSLE? -

Get tutor for science but in Chinese. Malaysian Chinese schools do Science in Chinese. Use Science as a hook to learn Chinese. Can try zoom classes or any Malaysian tutor who came through Chinese Science there.
I am really very vexed with his Chinese and do not know how to help him. He also does not have a good learning attitude in school. Though he is not the naughty kind and is very quiet, all teachers have sent feedback that he is very disinterested in learning and has problems focusing in school and easily distracted. His grades for other subjects may be slightly above average only, but not fantastic. The only thing is that he can get almost perfect scores in science but that is the only subject that I do not have to worry about. -

Why Malaysian Chinese? Do Science in Chinese :scared: ? Don't make the changes absolute, for I fear you might end up scaring him off Chinese or even Science than helping him.

The fact is, unless he is interested in Chinese, it's very difficult you can change his behavior.
From my experience, find him something he is interested in, but is only available in Chinese. For me, it was the 武侠小说that made me actually want to learn Chinese. Too bad I couldn't find anything simple enough to get started, and it was only momentary, or I have no reason to doubt I would be highly proficient in Chinese now. I then got interested in historical dramas like \"雍正王朝\" which I labored through the complex chinese (thank God for subtitles :)) but too bad there was very limited choices that stoke my interest. It was too late, anyway.
I believe anyone can be good at anything as long as they have some interest in it, or if the situation requires them to be so. Some fellow I know was always failing Chinese, yet he went to China for business and was speaking Mandarin like a pro after 3-4 years there. So if your kid is interested in Science, find something that the Chinese has been working on, and then let him follow their progress in Chinese. Gradually, his Chinese will improve. -

Not all schools gave out the slip today, some will have to wait till Monday. Thanks for sharing though, is yours a top sch or neighbohod school?

It will be different venue for each school. Unless your child is in the same school as Bibinogs, his information will not be useful for you.

My DC's letter stated the venue as his current school (a non-GEP school). I should think it's the same for everyone else?

Btw, parents will need to submit \"intent to participate\" by 12th November via a QR code link in the letter.
