You are talking about that inscrutable ratio? That 1.0 thingy? I only look at the number of reported new cases and it is still GROWING. I think that ratio thing is something the government concocted to make it seem like everything is going fine.

If the value is more than 1, that means the Covid 19 cases number are increasing at a faster rate than last week.
If there were 5000 daily cases last week and only 3000 cases daily this week, that mean the value to be less than 1. The rate of increasing is dropping.
If the daily community cases of last week (the base) is large then it is likely we will have a less than 1 value this week. -

And once that freak 5K day is more that 14 days in the past, and Friday's freak low count day goes into the previous weak, the ratio will go up again. If you look in the ST, they publish the ratio every day - past 7 days over 8-14 days ago.
So maybe due to the 5k case few days back.. today is Sun.. did we have any update this wk? Is it every wk got updates now?
It's a fairly pointless calculation as not all new cases are reported now. They should report on the ICU occupancy rate, or some hospital related figure. -
ChiefKiasu\" post_id=\"2045297\" time=\"1636261789\" user_id=\"3:
I think they mentioned that ratio because they overlooked the fact that not all cases are reported now. And then they got shot in the foot by that 5k count and last weeks' low day. Then the ratio is going to go up, and everyone is going to get worked up about it. I don't think it matters if the case count grows, or how fast it grows, as long as the hospitalisation/ICU rate doesn't grow too fast. And when it starts coming down, as it must eventually, then we can hope for some relaxation of measures.

As I mentioned earlier, they should use figures which they can count properly so that their stats actually mean something useful.
