This forum is so quiet as compared to three years ago where we see many of the parents participated and contributed their views and excitement on their DS/DD applying for Medicine Study. The applicants that have applied through NUS ABAS for Medicine will get to know whether they will be shortlisted by end of this month soon.
I am a parent of this forum three years back where my son applied in the year 2019 and failed to get in even as he was on the waitlist queue for NTU LKCSoM and shortlisted for NUS YLLSoM interview. He then went to serve his NS and now has ORD. He worked and trained hard in the army as it was tough. Fortunately got a chance to be trained as a competent frontline Combat Medic and worked with several elite army doctors.
It was an eyes opening experiences as he saw how skillful and the professionalism our army doctors worked outfield and at the Medical Center. The rigorous training and his Medic practices had given him confident, ignited his passion and courage to go for another shot at the application. Hopefully this time round he is able to get the chance to study what he has been so passionate for. -

All the best to your son! He stays true to his passion, never give up! This kind of doctor I would not mind seeing.

All the best to your child, Desmond Tang. Hope the admissions team can see your son’s determination and deducation to pursue Med.
My impression is that Medicine has become a really highly desired course / career among JC kids nowadays, and Covid has certainly added to it. During an award interview which was conducted in a group, one of kids shared that when asked what were their future plans career-wise, one of my kids shared that every single student cited Medicine, except my child. Maybe it really evokes a strong sense of interest and calling, and people find it easier to understand and explain the profession at that age, due to lack of exposure to other professions. Another of my kids shared that more than half the class is aspiring to read Medicine (and she is not one of them). -
Hi! Sushi88 and Doodbug,
Thank you so much for the consolation. Probably true that this pandemic had triggered most youth a sense of yearning to learn and do something worthy and meaningful. While still waiting for his matriculation at NUS or NTU and the Medicine application outcome, he has applied for a job as a Vaccinator and has been performing a lot of jabs for Kids, elderly and the rest since his ORD. He has to deal with many kind of people and all types of races including foreigners, at times odd scenario happened and it was a real challenge dealing them. I hope that what he had acquired through life experiences will not be put to waste. -
Good evening, has any one of your DS/DD received the e-shortlist letter from NUS?

Your son had certainly built up lots of interpersonal skills & ppl handling skills. With his passion, I’m standing behind him praying for his success for a place to read & practice Medicine this round.
