Dd2 asked me how they test the lions..I say don't know maybe jab let them sleep then swab?

So isolate for 72hrs then ART test if -ve can go back to work?

I read that it is from the lions’ faecal matter.

Oic..Yea hor also can..like testing the waste water..

Hubby says maybe zookeeper give loads of hugs & pass covid w/o realizing coz no records of animals catching covid so far except freak out HK residents claims.

Not that animals cannot not pass to humans. It’s said that the chances are low. But we’ll nvr know for sure until an animal start passing back to humans right?

Zookeepers dare to hug those lions?

Most likely transmission is from human to animals cos animals don’t leave the Zoo compound. Young children below 12yo, toddlers, babies should avoid visiting the Zoo for the time being. Not just the animals, 3 zookeepers are also down with covid

yah the lions are HUGE , dun think zoo keepers hug beasts. I just went night safari in june . The King is fierce looking , thunder roar- quite a majestic sight. I also guess its zoom keeper contaminated the areas while cleanining, contacts surfaces in animal compounds, food , drinks etc

Now sure what the survival rate for these animals is if they catch covid. They will most likely die?

Maybe see got underlying conditions or not?

:rotflmao: You mean high cholesterol or high blood pressure for that 5 COVID positive lions?

So lions will sniffle too? What are the symptoms? I'll bet it's nothing to them.

but aren't you curious how they got it? Certainly there was social distancing between human and them and any contact between the zookeepers and them would be transient.

Now, what if it's not these lions but our baby panda which is having more interaction with our zookeepers. And the pandas donch even belong to us.[/quote]Actually no test no case..like some of us..got symptoms then pcr test. They will recover and gained natural immunity as a results..

Birds are not mammals. It seems that it's mammals who catch Covid?

                    From US CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/animals.html
Recent experimental research shows that many mammals, including cats, dogs, bank voles, ferrets, fruit bats, hamsters, mink, pigs, rabbits, racoon dogs, tree shrews, and white-tailed deer can be infected with the virus. Cats, ferrets, fruit bats, hamsters, racoon dogs, and white-tailed deer can also spread the infection to other animals of the same species in laboratory settings. ... Chickens and ducks do not seem to become infected or spread the infection based on results from studies.
