my child is from a GEP center

they are going to Ferrer Park Pri.
(sch arranged for bus to send them at 730am)

I am guessing, this school is 20 mins drive away lo.
(Can’t seem to find the logic of the test venue allocation)

Maybe they choose the schools which have the least number of kids going for the selection so that the least number of kids will have home ground advantage 😉

A new environment could be good for them, it keeps them on their toes.

that's a not bad explanation - if you ask me.

(other GEP centre, i heard - same story. allocated to a pri school that is quite far away)

Just sharing to all parents.. Go to Mensa UK site and look for the brainteasers. They have 1 each week so there’s hundreds in their archive. Has combi of English and Math related puzzles. My girl is too lazy to do it alone so we do it together as a family activity. Quite a few questions may be a bit tough but it’s just for fun… don’t stress. Hope u guys find it fun too

FYI my girl never had any Tuition or GEP training. Only maths Olympiads before, at best “honorable mention”. This round 2 I stress it to her not to take it too seriously 😆

Not sure if any parents have the same consideration like me…If the child didnt go for GEP,the current school already have leadership role for the child next year. Most probably higher percentage to receive year end awards…If the child change school for GEP, everything will be back to zero…And no prefectorial position at P4 , less chances for awards and competition. So what is the perks for being in GEP?

I know a couple of kids who were selected but didn’t want to change schools, so they stayed on in their current school. Some of the reasons were as you have listed.

The peaks of the program, could be more project work and exploration. Some kids are also really bored in their current curriculum. The child might also be selected for leadership positions in new school, make more friends.
