NYGH will go to Hwa Chung JC
Hwa Chong Institution (JC) is the partner JC for Nanyang Girls 6-year integrated programme.

For the Nanyang Girls students who eventually do O levels (not just chinese but the all the subjects), they are not affiliated to HCI JC and hence do not get to minus 2 affiliation points for JAE. They can use cca or higher Chinese to minus points but not affiliation.

That list above is for affiliation. So it is correct that it is nyps to nygh and then ends there.

Same for RGS, RJC is partner JC for RGS, for those RGS who eventually do o level, they have no affiliation to any JC. However, understand that for both NYGH and RGS, no who did o level are very few, 20+ odd for each cohort each year.

                Hi CCk,

Perhaps there’ll be a separate list for partner JCs. That list posted by chief is for affiliation, it is accurate.

I don’t know where you get your numbers from, but I must say that it is rare for RGS, almost all of them move on to their partner JC. Some of them would have gone overseas.

Both RGS and NYGH took in up to 30% DSA. Those who DSA not through academic like sport may not have good psle result. IP program is meant for students in the top 10%, tscore above 250. If u compare students in 250 + to those 260+ which both RGS and NYGH have, still OK. The problem started with those students not supposed to be in IP, but because both RGS and NYGH are pure IP. My DD class had 2 DSA through sport, think 1 of them psle is like 240+, broke down several time in class when receiving result from test and exam, considering sec 1 is honeymoon year.

Many years ago, both schools used to transfer these students out in sec 3, but now no more, if there is necessarity, they will have an o level class in sec 3 onwards to cater to these students, typically 5% of cohort.

I have 2 DD, eldest in RGS sec 3, younger last year psle, this year finished sec 1 in NYGH. Always heard their argument why their school is better, like facilities, president scholars, sport achievement and even canteen food. From what I see, both schools are pretty similar, 12 classes in each cohort. Differences maybe RGS spread s all the GEP students across all classes, but NYGH keeps their GEP and elective programs to 4 classes. And only mix them up in sec 3. Another observation is that there are more Indian students in RGS, whereas very few Indians and Malays in NYGH.

                      Hi CCK,

Again, your arguments are based on Hear-say? .. you will be spreading false news, if you can’t prove it. Where did you get your numbers from that there are 20+ kids each year who went on to do Olevels? And there are O level classes in sec 3? Are you referring to NGYH or RGS? They are different schools and you should not lump them together.

Quoting you, “The problem started when…” and “may not have good psle results if DSA through sports”, these are your judgement and opinion of the system. They are not facts that such kids exist in every single cohort. And in all schools, other schools, this may also happen.

I believe most of the DSA students have had good academic prelim results, even if they DSA through sports. It may not be foolproof, but you must trust that teachers/admissions will not admit your child if they think your child will crumble and fall. Have some faith!

Again, which school are you referring to when your DD has a classmate who got in w 240+ and broke down in class? Again, which school is it that you said there is an o level class in sec 3 onwards to cater to these students, typically 5% of cohort? Please be clear on which school and try not to spread false information. It is a CRIME!! hahaz! You may substantiate with links or notices from the schools, if you have.

Your observation that there are more ethic diversity in RGS than in NYGH is not a surprise. This is because NYGH as a SAP school, do not offer Malay or Tamil language like in RGS. In addition, at NYGH, you are expected to love and embrace the Chinese culture and push yourself to do your best in (higher) Chinese. Are you expecting a lot of people who are not Chinese to love the Chinese culture? Does it make sense now?

As a parent, tell your children that the schools are not the same. Why compare apples to oranges. You eat the fruit that you fancy and be contented.

As a parent, tell your children that the schools are not the same. Why compare apples to oranges. You eat the fruit that you fancy and be contented.[/quote]When school took in DSA through sport, it is based on assessment from coaches from respective CCA, based on talent. I am not sure if the schools did make assessment of their result, but as far as I knew, if the student is offered by the school, and the student accepted, and if his or her psle is above 200, then there is no issue with the DSA admission.

I just clarified with my elder DD, in RGS if u failed to meet GPA requirement (set at 60%), u will be retained in sec 4 and repeat 1 year, still failed again, u will be out. In NYGH, u will go into SIP, structured IP, which is actually O level. Nygh uses MSG and set at 65% for promotion in sec 4. The school has actually weed out the weaker students into SIP, so all actually met the grade into HCJC.

I am not to say that they will eventually drop off to do o level, but some did so. However, a good no of them went on to the partner JC.
To inform u, nygh offered Malay special program in house, and from what I knew from elder DD, Chinese students in RGS takes HCL, although in nygh it is default.

Indeed, my DD does have a classmate who dsa in through basketball and my DD did tell me her psle score is 240+. But does not mean she will eventually do o level as still in sec 1 going sec 2.
