There is a school counselor. It is very academic driven with normal curriculum hours ending ard 3pm on non cca days.

My colleague’s daughter went in with psle score. This year sec 2. The colleague mentioned that the teachers in his daughter’s classes do not care whether or not you hand in homework. So most students in his daughter’s class do not bother with homework. Which he feels is not good. Of course we do not know what the situation is in other classes.

:yikes: What's the point of giving homework if you are not going to mark it. Sounds more like recommended \"readings\" 😂

I also asked, like is it no need to hand in one? He said, no, the teachers keep a list of “homework owed”, but do not enforce to make sure the list gets cleared. Said his daughter went in with a good score and good attitude towards learning and respect for teachers but now no longer because she thinks the teachers dont really care and if you are the only one not on the owed homework list, you are weird. I just said “no lah, maybe they are all clever students, no need to do never mind” and changed subject. 😂

Well I guess since the teacher is tracking kids on the \"homework owed\" list, maybe it is an attempt to engender greater independence and make kids responsible for their own learnings. But if ALL the kids think it is \"cool\" to not hand in homework, I think teachers need to rethink their strategy. It may be causing more harm than good.

The mountains of homework & practice papers few years back was crazy. I was quite shocked when packing up after Olevels.

I used to get calls from lower sec CL teacher on homework & we agreed to let him stay back in class with her to clear his homework everyday, so I guess it depends on individual teachers?
