Why not? Do put the 6th choice as AL8 or 9.
Last year, my son got 2A2A*, he got 258+ 2(Merit for HCL)
We put
1) HCI
2) RI
3) Dunman High
4) Cat high (IP)
5) SJI(IP)
6) Cat High(O)
He was offered HCI. I would think that making a trip down to see the physical environment of the school is very important… as a child must feel comfortable with the environment of the school. My son has a strong inclination towards Chinese culture. So, HCI is always his top choice.

It seems that the criteria for ESIS has been changed from the previous years. Below os from moe website. I guess that students who got ESIS this time are those admitted to independent school through DSA.

The criteria is the same as before. The top one-third of students will be notified of ESIS by MOE and this will be awarded if you choose to go to an Independent school. The ESIS is meant to offset tuition fees in Independent schools and is not given out through other avenues.

AL6 is about 262 and above While AL 5 is about 268 and above if converted to the old method.

Based on 2020.. RGS and RI cut off is about 260 to 261. This means that those got AL6 might need to ballot though the chances should be high.

The ESIS last year was 261 , and it’s AL5 this year . So I think AL 6 is probably not 262

I think your data is OK because it's hard to imagine parents who have little time to spare on their kids to come in to feed back on their kids results. So the data is mostly filled by concerned parents who really wants the best schools for their children, and hence the data seemed skewed because their kids usually do very well

The same thing is true for P1 registration, where balloting around premium schools is usually very hot, but at the end of the day, about 10% of places are left when Phase 2CS ends.

So, when using the survey data, just be mindful of this. You probably won't see a huge amount of students lurking at the tail end of the scale, BUT it doesn't mean they aren't there.

Hi mummies,

My DS scored AL7 (M), HCI as first choice, follows by NJC, Victoria IP, Cath High.
My question here, is it too risky to put hci and njc as first and second choices here ? Since their cop range 4-7?
Given that this cohort has many elite kids according to the distribution poll. Please enlighten me ! TIA

The results is good. But the system this year has changed. If you miss HCI, for the second choice; those with same points as your son but choose NJC as first choice will have advantage over your son. Those 7 points will go in first before your son. And if you miss NJC, then for Victoria IP; those 7 pointers with first choice as Vic IP and second choice will have advantage over your son.

So the 4 pointers, 5 pointers and 6 pointers will go in first. And then the 7 pointers with First choice will go in. And 7 pointers with 2nd choice will go in. And then your son with other 7 pointers with third choice will be considered. And if there are many and not too many places left; your son will go through balloting with the rest of 7 pointers with third choice and see who get in. So the risk increases with each choices that you miss.
