Hi, we stay in woodlands (near TE line) and my daughter got AL10. Our choices are:

      1. Methodist Girls O level (cop8)
      2. CHIJ secondary toa payo (cop10)
      3. Swiss cottage (cop 11)
      4. Riverside secondary (cop 14)

Appreciate if someone could advise on our choices. We prefer girls' school and she is taking Hindi as mother tongue(all these schools have Hindi). Is it risky to put CHIJ as 2nd choice as the cop is same as my daughter's AL? Any other good schools near woodlands? Please help.
      Many thanks in advance!
St Margaret’s? Cedar O level? Crescent Girls?

My DD got AL7(M), thinking of

        1) NYGH 7(M)
        2) DHS 8(D)
        3) Cedar 8
        4) St Nic 7(M)
        5) SCGS 8
        6) Nan Chiau O 11

Is there a risk she can’t get IP?
        Can I have some advice?
        Thanks a lot

My DS score AL7,he didn't take HCL
Please advise which options will be a safer choice based on the COP
we stay in north west area

          Option 1
          1. HCI (7M)
          2. ACSI (7)/NJC (7)
          3. SJI (8)
          4. RVHS (9D)
          5. Nan Hua (11D)
          6. SJI Express (12)

          Option 2
          1. HCI (7M)
          2. SJI (8)
          3. RVHS (9D)
          4. Nan Hua (11D)
          5. SJI Express (12)
          6. Bukit Panjang Gov High ( 11)
With AL7, your son is eligible for IP. AL8 is top 10%.

There is not need to over worry and put down a school with COP 12 as your choice. Even if you were to RI (AL6) as 1st choice you could stand a chance as RI COP for this cohort is still unknown even though the guesstimate is AL6.

          1). HCI (7M)
          2). ACS (I) (7)
          3). NJC (7)
          4). SJI (8)
          5). RVHS (9)

AL7(M) should be quite safe to get into IP. Top 10% is at AL8.

If you like St Nic, you can shift up to 2nd choice. Nan Chiau can be replaced by RVHS or TJC, depending on where you live.

DD got AL7(D), thinking about following choices :

              1) NYGH 7(M)
              2) DHS 8(D)
              3) Cedar IP 8
              4) Cedar O 9
              5) Crescent 11
              6) PLMGS 11

Can I have some advice on whether choices 1 & 2 are reasonable and stand some chance?

              Thanks alot
quite reasonable to me, worst case didn't get 1) NYGH, then almost 100% confirm can get into 2) 3), unless 2) and 3) balloting at AL7D, which is very very unlikely. AL7 to put NYGH at first is like nothing to lose at all.

NYGH COP for 2020 was 261 AL7(M), which is why I have indicated its 259+2

Why 259 is not AL6? That is just that because AL7 score range can be as high as 275 if AL1 subject are in the high 90s.

Will that all change for 2021? That is highlight possible because a 257 AL6 is now rank ahead of 259+2

Seriously, Veyron, we all know how you believe AL scores are related to t-scores, but the fact is, t-scores are the past and people are all trying to get used to AL scores. Discussing the relationship between t-scores and AL-scores, well, that's really chim, but also really pointless. Will knowing the relationship bring some special insight to people trying to get their kids into the best secondary schools? So what if a \"257 AL6\" ranks ahead of \"259+2\"? How will knowing that help get my kid into his desired school? I fail to see the point of linking AL scores to t-scores.

Chief, Veyron’s approach has been the same since April, despite the opposing comments. There is no way to change his mind. Hope that parents who really need assistance don’t get further confused.

Maybe next year the “AL-TScore Correlation on Balloting Risk Theorem” will be finally retired after 2021 precedence 😓🙏🏽

AL7 is relatively easy to make decision, several parent already made very similar decisions as you, which is put COP AL6 AL7 school as the first choice, then several AL8 schools as 2nd 3rd choice. nothing to lose, and very safe.

difficult decision belongs to AL6 and AL8, they are the one getting the headache.

Hi, my girl has AL7 (no HCL) and we live in the west.

She is keen on IP and her first choice is MGS (IP). However, MGS (IP) has COP of 6.

What are the chances of getting in? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Putien for creating this chart.

                      What do you think?
No. of psle candidates in 2020 was 39,995. (40,256 in 2019)
No. of psle candidates in 2021 was 39,119.
Lower in demand with same amount of supply, the chances of getting a place wld be higher? Provided the reduction is evenly distributed? Hard to know that too.

68.4% of the cohort is AL 4-20 (express).

Depends on the quantity of AL 4,5,6 students choosing for the same school in MGS IP...Nobody really knows right now.
