I have just received a call from my husband, his eldest brother (my brother in law) couldn’t make it and passed away at ICU hospital this evening due to Covid 19 complication.


The body will be sent for cremation tomorrow morning and we are not allowed to attend.

My tears keep on dropping.

Thank you. My sister in law is still in hospital but came out of ICU yesterday. They don't have kids and we couldn't believe my BIL's life would be ended in this way.

So early? Thought a lockdown could happen around CNY next year.

Not very sure how deadly will Omicron be as many Africans actually have HIV/AIDS so their immune systems are already compromised in the first place.

Singapore is quite weird, while many in India died of Delta, 92% of unvaccinated folks (back then) had mild or no symptoms. So I have mixed feelings about the new Omicron variant.

Yes, they are fully vaccinated with booster but my BIL has undergo some kinds of heart operation a few years ago.

Lockdowns have to happen early, the earlier the better. Leaving it later will just prolong the agony. But I hope it won't come to that.

I think Singapore had a mich higher vaccination rate when Delta arrived, compared to India, which explains the different experience.

As for Omicron, I heard Leong Hoe Nam on the radio yesterday saying that his gut feel is that Omicron is likely to be less deadly, at least for the vaccinated. Of course, he is also still waiting for more detailed findings. If that's the case, Singapore is in a good position, even though the usual sections will be vulnerable (unvaccinated, elderly, with chronic illnesses). Let's hope he's right!
