looks ok except maybe u want to consider Tanjong Katong Sec (AL14) instead of Temasek (AL13) and also perhaps consider Bedok View (AL18) instead of Bedok South (AL19) ?

Thank you Emoh parent. Do you think Temasek COP will drop to 15 (COP13)? Will consider your suggestion to put in Bedok View (AL18) instead of Bedok South (AL19). Much appreciated 😄

If only 1 top school ends up having to do balloting as u described, it's just an unavoidable outcome of this new AL system. Question is, is this such a big deal as ppl imagine to be?
I feel tat since schools with COP of AL7-9, AL10-12, etc etc have to undergo balloting n consequently cause anguish to some students & parents, why must the system ensure tat the top few schools be spared from such a predicament? Life is never fair, u just have to cope with the card tat u receive.

I believe every school will definitely need to go for balloting. What we are discussing here is what is the minimum AL score P6 students need to score in order to gain entry to top or most popular secondary school without balloting.

The concern for parents is if AL5 still requires balloting, then some parents may try to aim for AL4 in order to secure a confirmed place.

Hi, with a AL12, what is the chances of getting into Nan Chiau 4M to 11M?

          Thank you!

highly unlikely to drop from AL13 to AL15 for such a popular school but u never know

I think the AL22 (the previously COP 188) schools will probably not need to do balloting as they would have issues attracting enough students and having students posted to them in the first place, so usually they will also get those who are not successful in any of their 6 choices and staying nearby

Thank you so much. Think I shall drop Temasek and move the rest up. Hope your kid will get into his/her dream school:)

                  thanks for sharing.

Based on the same conversion rate of 2020, how about 92+84+90+83? what would the t-score be?

If 353 becomes Tscore 260, then 349 will be Tscore 257?

                    Assuming AL4-5 = top3% of cohort
                    Assuming cohort size = 40000 → those scored AL4 & AL5 = 1200, more or less

From the 1200, you will have variety of students, maybe 55% girls, 45% boys; some non-chinese speaking who will prefer RI / RGS, and chinese students who can go anywhere (RI/RGS/NYGS/HCI/MGS).

Assuming vacancies of top 5 schools (RI/RGS/NYGS/HCI/MGS) ≈ 350 x 5 = 1750. From there, you will have some taken by DSA, but DSA students normally fare quite well in PSLE, hence AL4 AL5 themselves. So, let's use 10% of vacancies taken by DSA students who scored AL6 or worse. That leaves us with 1575 seats for less than 1200 students.

The odd of AL5 require balloting, in my opinion will be if:
                    1. PSLE set is easier, bumping more AL4 & AL5 beyond 3%
                    2. Odd distribution of AL4 /AL5 students, leaning towards more students in one group (eg, 80% boys, 20% girls vying for RI /HCI only).

I have a feeling that MOE will not want those to happen. To be honest, if a student managed to score AL4 or AL5, he/she deserves to be guaranteed a place in his/her choice.
very good analysis, but you forgot NUSH (Maybe 180 students), and ACSI, which are also very popular, and the COP for ACSI is 7 last year.

                      Yes, that's what I did.
You can do a weighted response to your survey to account for over / under supplying.

While not a perfect normal distribution, the distribution of the raw scores should approximate a normal dist.

                        Hi Everyone

I was reading thru all the posting for the past few days and I am just curious and wish to clarify on consideration for Secondary school.

My boy gotten - AL5 (total) for his PSLE.

Of course we are overjoyed as we believe he can go for any school he wanted, we are at his side, providing advise to his school selection but we are clear that he will be the one to make the final choice.

He final 1st choice is: SJI (IP) - aiming to do IB

As he’s from a Lasallian Primary school hence a lot of his current classmate is also heading to the same institute. As we were looking thru all the comments there’s little mention of SJI. IS there any reason? or just its a good school but not the top choices?
