The simplest explanation is that:
      - MGS IB was slightly less popular this year
      - TJC was slightly more popular this year

I agree, no need to read too much into things.

Who knows, next year popularity could swing +1 or -1 again depending on preferences.
Not sure how valid is it but during the psle results release date, someone came into this forum and said MGPS did not do well this year so maybe lesser girls qualify for IP and open up more vacancies for outsiders and hence cop drops.

But MGS IP/IB does not give affiliation priority.

Hihi, not sure if this is asked earlier. May I check if any kind soul is tabulating the AL cut off, beyond the top schools? It will be useful to see the cut off ALs for the rest of the schools as well.
I believe someone here is tabulating it and it may take some time to complete as there are so many schools in Singapore.

May have the simulated AL score version. Let me know if you are keen

Ya I mean let's say last time 20 mgps girls qualify using cop. This year only 10 as they did not do as well to qualify. These addl 10 vacancies are then trinkled down to others (assuming demand relatively constant), so cop drops?

How does one explain why MGS with one of the highest t score cut off dropped to AL7 this year, and TJC with the lowest t score IP cut off improved by one AL? Let’s all just put the t score to sleep……
MGS has got the lowest t-score COP among the AL6 COP schools MGS 258 vs RGS 260. As I have mentioned in my earlier post (before S1 posting result) that students with AL6 will likely try for RGS instead of MGS because RGS is 100% IP school. In 2020 T-score of 258 will not stand any chance for RGS.

                https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2048873#p2048873

The lowest possible t-score for AL8 can now be as low as 247 (with a AL5 subject), which is lower than the actual 250 t-score COP for TJC in 2020. What this means is there is a larger pool of students vying for AL8 schools.

                https://www.kiasuparent.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2048805&sid=704e9eadcd207167a547698aae7137bb#p2048805

Its very likely that AL8 students who failed to get into their 1st or 2nd choice AL8 COP schools got posted to TJC with AL8 leaving no more place for AL9 students.

Simulated AL score version was tabulated by myself and posted in this thread in November:

                  https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2046146#p2046146

The public Excel sheet is here for viewing/download:

I am keen to tabulate the latest (actual) COPs, but will be waiting for official data from MOE. I don’t fancy calling up 140+ secondary schools just to populate my table.

The fact is, you may be right, but who cares about t-scores now?? By prolonging this discussion, you are destroying MOE's efforts in shifting the public consciousness to AL-scores. It is strange you are doing this, given your great respect for MOE.

T-score is irrelevant when it comes to PSLE grading

However using historical t-score COP as a reference can be very helpful for making S1 posting school choices.

I wonder anyone dared to apply MGS Ip as its indicative cutoff was AL6 with AL7 and got admission into it.
