You can try by asking around to see how many KSP here have succeeded in getting their own child to rgs with AL6.

one can conclude under AL scoring system –> indicative AL COP means is when ballot will happen.

Yes it has become rather clear that at the indicative AL, a ballot situation will happen. Singaporeans shouldn’t fear balloting (esp for their dream schools) as they will have priority, based on citizenship, as long as they meet the AL cut off. I would think twice if I were a PR or foreigner and would avoid a ballot situation.

With the exception of MGS (+1), probably the best Christmas gift to those who tried their luck w MGS at AL7, unexpectedly got lucky there.

Yes, those with a bigger risk appetite and got balloted into MGS at AL7 (indicative cop AL6), should rejoice this Christmas.

But if I were one of next batch parents, I doubt I would do the same as MGS has always been a hot favorite. Next year its COP could just move up back to AL6.

The reason why I think MGS COP dropped to AL7 this time round could be due to its affiliated MGS primary school girls not doing as well this year (hearsay from a MGS mummy whose DD didn’t do well).

Possible. It could also be an effect of having a larger intake or opening up of more classes. It might also be that more people are aware of what the IP-IB requires and prefer to stick to the regular A-levels route.

Schools with IP + O level tracks are always 4 + 8 classes. It just happened last year MGS last student tscore of 258 is simulated AL6. Only pure IP schools like those top 4, DHS, RVHS had full 12 classes of IP.

I wonder anyone dared to apply MGS Ip as its indicative cutoff was AL6 with AL7 and got admission into it.
Why not. Based on last year mgs cop for the last student of 258, this can be AL6 or AL7.

Anyway, u can see the cop for schools did not really deviate much from last year, I guess the raw scores are moderated to fit in the usual distribution, which I believed was done all the while. It is difficult to score above 90 marks for some subjects especially English. My DD never did score anything above 90 for English and science in pri 5 & 6 including prelim. But when last year psle results are released, she got A* for both these subjects as well, so I believe the raw score is moderated.

I believe no of AL4, AL5, AL6 are fixed in this way.

in one of your earlier post didn't you suggest to try for schools with AL COP 1 point lower than result?
                      e.g AL7 trying to AL6 COP school?

what caused you to change ?

It all depends on the individual’s risk appetite. So those who listened to me earlier could have gotten into MGS with AL7…
