Hi,

I would like to find out is there any difference in HCL at secondary level for OP and IP track. For lower secondary, I think may be the same coverage? For IP in Y4, the students don’t have to take O level HCL exam, what will they be tested in Y4 HCL and thereafter? Hope to have some enlightenment on this. Thank you.

IP students do sit for the O level HCL exam in their sec 4 year.

Hi Jamommy,

Actually the coverage differs more in lower Sec between the 2 track (or even between different schools for same track).

For example, some schools include 造句/完成句子 in WA/exams during Year 1 and/or 2 while others don't. Similarly, some schools introduce students to 病句改正 as early as 2nd semester of Year 1 while others only do so around 2nd term of Year 2.

The coverage will be standardized from end of Year 2/beginning of Year 3 onwards - i.e. tiered towards O Level format and components (https://sandaochinese.com/o%E6%B0%B4%E5%87%86%E8%80%83%E8%AF%95%EF%BC%88gce-o-level%EF%BC%89cl%E5%8D%8E%E6%96%87%E4%B8%8Ehcl%E9%AB%98%E7%BA%A7%E5%8D%8E%E6%96%87%E7%9A%84%E8%AF%95%E5%8D%B7%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%8F%E4%B9%8B/).

Yup, I saw some Sec 2A assessment books and vocabulary handbook for the new syllabus a couple of days ago at Popular Toa Payoh branch. I believe the bigger outlets should carry them (Bras Basah should be safest option ).
