Hi, wonder how does teacher teach in Reading class? My boy told me that the teacher just ask the class to read out the sentences... And then do spelling... Then I asked my boy about how did he know to read the words? He can blend and learn from school...

Hmmm... Is it normal? If that is the case, I can no need to send him to my English then....
For My Reading Class Book 1 - 5 focuses on being able to sight and read words that the kids might not hv come across based on the phonics that they hv learnt. Teacher makes the kids read sentences in class to ensure that the kid can sight and read any words. Being able to sight and read any word also reduces the need to memorise for spelling. Teacher also ask them questions in relation to the passage to check on their understanding (something like comprehension). My boy has been with The Poiz branch since My Reading Readiness Class. He is currently at My Reading
Class Pro which focuses on grammar and writing sentences to ans comprehension qns. Also start on creative writing skill by asking kid to create and write sentences from the own experiences.

I believe sending my boy to My English School
from Reading Readiness till now helps him to build a strong foundation for English. Will let my boy finish off the next level My Primary Preparation Class cos I'm not too sure if continuing to Pri level will be of much use. Once a kid is done with learning proper grammar, I believe the kid needs to read a lot of books and news to improve their comprehension skills. By reading a lot also increases their range of vocabulary, exposes to a wider range of writing, which will improve on their creative writing skills. It is unlikely that the kid will improve much if they don't read more and just depends on that weekly English lesson to improve their comprehension and creative writing skills as well as increase their range of vocabulary.
